What kind of ceremony are you having?

Joey, on August 2, 2017 at 12:23 Posted in Wedding ceremony 0 21

Hi there! This is my first day in the community and I want to get to know you all better. I'm curious about what sort of wedding ceremony you are planning.

Where will it take place? A church, a boat, a garden, a banquet hall, your family home?

What elements will it include? Readings, a unity candle, a ring warming ceremony, a handfasting ceremony, a sand ceremony?

Will you exchange rings? Or maybe get matching tattoos?

Will you write your own vows?

What will the music be like?

Whatever your ceremony will entail, I'd love to hear all about it!

We are doing a civil ceremony at a mansion complex, if the weather permits we will have an outdoor ceremony but if it rains our venue comes equipped with an indoor plan. We are going to write our own vows for the ceremony and are going to use covers by the Piano Guys in the ceremony Smiley smile

We are getting married outdoors, in a courtyard at our reception venue. It will be a religious ceremony. I would like to do some sort of unity thing (don't think candle or sand, I'd like to do something different).

We will exchange vows and rings (unsure if we are writing our own at this point, but I do like traditional vows!).

We will have a couple readings as well.

Music will most likely be recorded, but I do like the idea of having live music for the ceremony so we will see about that.

We are getting married in a Catholic cathedral. He is Catholic, I am United so I'm not entirely sure how all the elements work yet.. But just a traditional ceremony. We will be exchanging rings! No personal vows or tattoos!

Our ceremony is going to be a civil ceremony, despite us both growing up catholic. I was previously married but did not get an annulment through the church as I don't actively go. I haven't in years and didn't believe it was necessary. He is now atheist and agreed to the civil ceremony as it best suits us. Our ceremony will take place outside in a hotel courtyard. We haven't gone too far into detail yet with what we would like for the ceremony but we do know we want it as simple as we can get it. We have talked about hand fasting but haven't made any concrete decisions yet. We may also write our own vows and will exchange rings. We have a three piece string band playing... super expensive but really worth it. We area also going to incorporate my daughter into the ceremony as she comes from my previous marriage. We both feel it's important for her to be a part of the big day.

I am a bit nervous! We don't plan on writing them together as we don't want to know what the other will say. I feel like I'm going to be so nervous and emotional on the day that it would just be simpler to repeat after someone instead of recite something. We haven't really talked about structure but we both want to keep the ceremony relatively short so we have that understanding.

Hey Sandra! What playlist are you creating? Is this for the reception or the ceremony?

    Hi Joey!
We are having an outdoor ceremony at a local venue. The reception is held in the cutest Victorian house!
We aren't doing anything special for our ceremony like a sand or candle thing. We just want something quick and simple.
We are having our rings engraved for his to say Player 1 and mine Player 2 (we both love video games haha)
We will write vows for each other but we won't be reading them at the ceremony. We will exchange them before the ceremony, we are both too shy. We are only having 40 guests but it's still scary to be up there in front of everyone!

We have decided on venue location town etc. Summer outdoorsy dressy relaxed. Perhaps bbq buffet style. We would like a DJ type of setup. As both sides of our family are huge.

For the ceremony, ours will be held at our church here in Peterborough where we live! We will be doing a unity candle during our ceremony as well as communion with the juice and bread. We will be doing traditional vows and we will do the exchanging of rings as well! We have 4 songs to be played during the ceremony, but before and after the ceremony, we just asked the church to play some simple quiet music. We have truly madly deeply being played when the bridesmaids walk down the aisle, I will walk down to a thousand years, we have Glasgow love theme being played during the signing of all the papers, and then as we leave, a sky full of stars to be played! We also have a receiving line after the ceremony!

I know one of the two readings we're doing because I chose it but my FH is choosing the second one. My brother is reading the one I chose and my FMIL is reading the other. I chose a song from Pocahontas actually. I am a huge fan of Disney so I just looked up Disney wedding readings. For the second one we are considering the lyrics to Grow Old with you from The Wedding Singer. There are so many choices out there!

Erin, are you nervous about writing your vows? Do you and your future spouse plan to write them together? My husband and I used traditional vows for our wedding, but for our celebration of marriage we wrote our own vows (I have no idea how he talked me into that!). We didn't write ours together, but we agreed on a structure together so that we would be sure ours would be similar, not one super long and one just a sentence or two, lol!

    Hi Joey Smiley smile

I am getting married in a banquet hall. We will be having a civil ceremony with a sand ceremony and readings. I believe we will be writing our own vows, maybe paraphrasing some, we will see aha. The music will be instrumental versions of pop songs for our processional and recessional.

Welcome to the community! I look forward to reading more of your posts!

Hi Joey! Congrats on your first post! Smiley smile

I am getting married outdoors on some family property. We are just having a standard civil ceremony where we will exchange rings and vows. We will be writing our own vows (eek!). We have all types of different music for our wedding. We want to have some love themed jazz to welcome the guests and then the party mix ranges from ABBA to Ed Sheeran to R. Kelly to The Foo Fighters to Motown and beyond!!!
