There are so many different things to send out now!

I'm I'm sending out is save the dates (they went out about 1.5 months ago) to let people know to tentatively plan a trip out west and invitations will be going out early January with specific details about the wedding. RSVPs will be done through our wedding website, and everyone is being invited to both the ceremony and reception, so theres no need fofor reception invitations!

Save the date, is the first thing you send. The name speaks for itself, it's just a reminder for guests to save that date for the wedding.

Invitation is the main one, has the ceremony and reception information on it. (Time, date, location, etc). It comes with and RSVP card that guests send back to you stating if they will or will not be attending and if they will to will not be bringing their plus one also food options on it if you want.

Invitations are based on your personalities and formality of the wedding. Many choices from casual to formal and folded cover or lace design.

Choose what best suits you as a couple and of one invite is enough to your satisfaction

Save the date is just sent in advance of the invite, especially when it’s a destination wedding (but not required)

Invites are the general invite with basic wedding information. These are sent with rsvp’s
If you plan on sending out invites to the ceremony separate from the reception you could send out an rsvp with each.

RSVPs you include with the wedding invtitation. That way they tell you if they are or are not attending but maintain the details on the invitation for future reference.
Save the dates you send ahead of time letting them know that you are planning your wedding for a specific date but don’t have all the details - usually includes engagement photo or basic details “save the date for The wedding of A and B on the # of (month)”.
