What does your guest list look like?!

Amanda, on April 12, 2023 at 10:15 Posted in Plan a wedding 1 30

Hello everyone! There has been so many new members recently! Let's talk about you guest list!

Are you hosting a huge bash or a more intimate celebration? Are your invites going to mainly friends, or family? How did you decide on the number of guests?

My husband and I only chose close friends and immediate family attend our big day. No extended family, cousins of cousins etc. We both wanted a small wedding no matter what, plus having our wedding in a different province made that choice so much easier! We had 38 guests Smiley heart Our group photo Smiley heart @LichonPhotography

We had planned for/budgeted for 100 but the actual number ended up being around 75, including the wedding party. My wife's family is huge (she is the youngest of 5) so we had not only her siblings and their spouses but also numerous nieces, nephews and their spouses and in some cases their children too! Also a good number of co-workers of mine were there so that made up a lot of the guest list. Turned out to be just the right number of guests - at my first wedding it was just over half that number (and quite blase, my ex wanted it that way), and neither one of us had the desire for a 200+ guest wedding.

We invited about 95 and had 77 there on the day. I loved the closeness of it - we said hi to everyone during 30 mins of our cocktail hour! We also focused on friends, colleagues, close family, and then grandparent-level folks more broadly than our immediate family. But definitely not the giant bash it could be with all of my family members there.

We've said from the start that we want to party until they kick us out! So we are definitely going for a ballroom bash!
Our guest list is pretty 50/50 friends and family - he has more friends than family, and I have the opposite just due to the size of our family/friend groups. Our current guest list is 84 invited.

We made a list of our "must have" people and ended up with 80 people on the list. It will be a family reunion on my side and a high school reunion on my FH side

I originally wanted 30 guests, FH wanted 70. When we sat down to look at the list of people we really wanted there (mix of closest friends and family) it was 57. Not sure how many we’ll end up having since all guests will have to travel to us.

We have it small 43 including us. I would have loved a bigger wedding but the budget was just not there, and we wanted to buy a house.

Our invites went to family and close friends and some coworkers. 127 invites went out. We over sent so we can meet our minimum. All RSVP's are in and we are below, 94. But im okay with it cause the main guests we wanted there, are coming. I originally wanted a smaller wedding but FH wanted something bigger.

We are eloping so it’ll just be us for the ceremony, but we have rented a private room at a nice restaurant for our immediate family to celebrate with when we get home from our wedding trip. Our total guest count for that will be 14 people.

We’ll likely host a larger, more casual reception in the summer for our friends and extended family. I would think we’ll have around 50-60 people for that.

Definitely smaller. We had 25 and I agree, I was able to have conversations and spend quality time with everyone. I had a rule that when I looked around the room I only wanted to see faces of those closest to us and luckily with our smaller families and friends we were able to do that.

We sent out 140 invites; a little risky as our venue seats 120, but my fiancé is American and a lot of his guests won't be able to travel to our Banff wedding. He is also Irish so his entire massive family has been invited, as well as all of his friends and most of his co-workers. My list is a bit smaller, I was selective with family and didn't invite the drama, all of my friends were invited. So far 55 have RSVP'd yes with 160 to go, I am estimating about 90-100 guests.

And I always said I wanted a small wedding Smiley laugh

We’re currently estimating 80 invited guests. Guessing our final number will be closer to 70 attendees. 😊

That is great number! I love smaller weddings!

I know with my wedding, we were able to spend more time with each of our guests and have actual conversations rather then running around and only being able to see everyone for a few seconds

We both wanted a smaller scale wedding in the mountains, right now we are at 36 guests. I am so excited!
