What did you wear for your engagement pics?

Engaged for two months and still haven't done ours but we'll definitely be going formal for ours. We work in a very casual environment so we both really enjoy and appreciate the chance to be fancy.

Semi formal shirt and pants.

We were semi-dressy and also did some photos in our hockey jerseys.

We decided to dress up as we are always in casual everyday clothes and wanted to go for the wow factor in our photos. It was hard to pick outfits but once we did everythimg came together for what we think is our perfect.

Definitely more casual, we talked to our photographer who said it is better to be relaxed during engagement photos so you are comfortable and can get to know each other before the big day. I wore one of my favourite dresses.

I think maybe it depends on the location you're doing your photoshoot at and your lifestyle maybe? Me and my fiancé are very outdoorsy people; we did our photoshoot in a provincial park and dressed pretty casual.

I will say, these ones definitely spoke to me (by the way, your HAIR IS GREAT IN THESE JESUS CHRIST) and I think because we always dress casually I'd like to go formal with it. He already has a well tailored suit and I'd just need to find a nice dress. I'm sold.

We went formal! We always dress so casual all the time so we figured why not. Our photoshoot day almost didn’t happen because it was pouring rain and was soooo humid. The rain stopped once it was time to shoot but the humidity and mugginess did not leave. We were dying in our outfits lol. But it was worth it because our photos came out amazing. We feel like we’re more prepared to take our wedding photos since we endured that type of heat in formal gear.

BOTH! We had a casual outfit, and a dressier outfit. We did a couple different backdrops within the same park/location. It gave a little something different to have some laid back photos, and then some more posed/formal(ish) photos.

We picked a location that was true to our style... my FH loves the outdoors, we love the West Coast, and the river/tunnel was just really visually interesting.

Your outfits should coordinate, but not match... with only one of you having print at one time, and try to have more structured fabrics over soft fabrics (the teal shirt I wore was not the best for photographs).

I wore teal, and he wore plaid that had some teal in it, then he just wore black so I could wear my print/colours.

We did jeans and nice shirts (mine was white with a criss cross front and his was a nice button up) and I also wore a leather jacket for some pics and took it off for some.

It felt very us to be dressed like this and ultimately made us feel more comfortable in front of the camera too.

We wanted something simple since we were so lucky to be able to have our photos done in the beautiful rocky mountains! I chose more neutral, earthy colours to compliment the nature around us as well. And honestly, you want to be comfortable!

We will probably wear big winter jackets as we want our pictures in December at the light show and it will inevitably be -30 at best. You really just have to dress for what you are doing. Don't go wearing a mini skirt for a photo session outside or a coffee shop. It would be out of character. Just think of what you would normally wear and class it up a bit. Try not to wear bracelets or other rings unless you always wear them so that they don't draw away from your engagement ring.

Also, don't wear too many patterns. If both you and your FH wear something distracting and on top of that the scenery is over the top then you will get lost in the picture. Try to colour block as best as you can.

No right or wrong answer to this! I say, take a cue from where you're getting your pictures taken. Also, there's nothing wrong with a quick outfit change in the middle!

We did vintage-y 1950's ish theme for the midway pictures we did, and then casual for the rustic spots we did pictures.

It depends on how you feel!

Do you dress up normally? If so, then taking it a bit further will enable you to still feel like yourself while looking great!

If you don't normally dress up and feel you may be uncomfortable, then keep it casual otherwise your engagement pictures may come across as too staged.

It's important to factor in the setting of your engagement pictures too, but ultimately you should go with your instincts to ensure you're as comfortable as you can be in front of the camera.

I wore the dress in my avatar. Although you can't tell from the picture, it's a more formal dress than what I'd wear on a daily basis. I got my hair and makeup done to elevate the way I look. I regret my choice of shoes, though.

We did super casual because 1. both of us basically live in sweat pants and 2. our wedding pictures will be dressy/fancy so we wanted something in between

FH did dark jeans and a white t shirt. I just did dark jeans with an open back pink tank top.

Both outfits were pretty casual, but great for the pictures!

Pick something that you are comfortable in, and wont have to worry about fixing in between shots.
