What can i start working on?

Abbie, on November 8, 2020 at 08:39 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 6
Hello!

I’m excited to plan for our wedding and also a typical Type-A planner - I like to be organized! However, with our wedding not until summer 2022 I’m not really sure what I can do at this point in time. Even our favourite venues are stalling at booking something over a year away.
Any suggestions for what I can work on? Smiley smile

Ok, I thought so too! I’m finding venues aren’t taking me seriously because my wedding isn’t until 2022. But 2021 dates are booking up very quickly!

You can start now while the bookings can bw done and deposits can be done too for vendors to secure your date.

Thank you for your insight! ☺️ How far ahead would you recommend booking a venue? Is it too soon to put deposits down on locations?

Thank you for your response! I’m finding that without a venue it’s difficult to really envision what I want but I like the idea of the inspiration boards! ☺️

Vendor team is a good start making arrangements for your date work and deposits down so your secure. Its best to know if your venue will also allow candles/tealights beforehand on the tables.

Creating a board of how the venue is set for décor and colours to choose of your choice. Its also good to know if the venue does offer centerpieces and tables to have the gifts/seating chart of escort cards placed along with cake to be placed within the head table area.

Budgeting your major costs and what you feel will be feasible. Consider the options of rentals too for savings and space saving in the home if not going in the reselling direction. This also includes flowers/bouquets.

DIY projects are great to get your creative décor to know you can save on small things as give away favours and table décor.

Pinterest and spreadsheets! You can definitely start figuring out what you like and dislike, make a spot for your dress, bridesmaids dresses, centerpieces, and whatever makes your heart sing. You can think about the season you want, build a rough guest list, and focus on a budget that won't break the bank.

Without a venue you won't have a concrete date, but you can start shopping for photographers and ask what their availability is in your preferred season. Sometimes they will hold more than one date if they aren't super busy yet. For example we knew we wanted a Friday in the Fall and our photographer was free on almost every Friday so we booked her before out date was set in stone.
I would wait til you know the venue to buy a dress, just in case they don't match (like a ball gown in a barn or something). That was the tie breaker for me, the dress suited our venue better.
