We've asked 2 grown women to be our Flower Girls: what do you think?

Christine, on September 18, 2018 at 11:42 Posted in Before the wedding 0 12

I personally think it's fun and not a big deal to "break" with this tradition. We don't have a young lady in our lives who could fill this role and we do have my younger sister who is not big on being a bridesmaid but still wants to be included, and my best friends younger sister who falls into a similar category. I think it's awesome but we get people scrunching up their faces when they hear this. Is it REALLY that big of a deal? Like, who really cares?

I was at a wedding where the grandmothers were the flower girls as well....it was the sweetest thing I’ve ever seen! Totally makes me wish my grandmothers were still around to be my flower girls.

I think it’s fine. As long as those involved aren’t offended, no one else’s opinion matters!

If it makes sense for your wedding, why not do it? It's a fun idea for sure!

If they are totally on board I don't see why not! They could do it dramatically too to get some laughs from the guests. It's your wedding, you do as you see fit!!

I don't think age has any effect on being flower girls. Especially when they are close to you. Its different for sure.

Omg no!! I think that's a great idea!

I've seen once the Grandmothers of the couple walking down the aisle as the flower girls and I thought it was absolutely amazing!

There is no "RIGHT WAY" to do a wedding! I think a unique idea like this is wonderful!

Please have them still throw petals! Hahah!

Haha Love the advice Tori, thanks! We've got a 1920s themed wedding so I'm picturing a little Charleston dance down the aisle as they scatter the flowers Smiley winking

I think that it would be fine! If anything get them to really umphf it up by over doing it. Don't just have them walk down the aisle with petals all elegantly but rather over the top and dramatically throwing the petals. It's not normal to have a grown woman do this part so make it so that people know that you are FULLY AWARE.
