Welcome Bags - Overrated or Underrated?

Cliodhna, on November 25, 2019 at 09:05 Posted in Before the wedding 0 20

What’s your stance on welcome bags for guests staying at your hotel block? Do you feel like they’re an underrated gift or would you rather allocate the budget elsewhere?

Do you think welcome bags are overrated or underrated?

We aren't doing a hotel block so for me the bags are overrated

Im def not doing this. this will cost another arm and leg and its unfair to guests who arent staying at the hotel or live close by

    Overrated.

I didn't even know these existed until a few months ago, and I really feel this is just a large favor before the wedding and trying to coordinate/deliver them if not everyone is staying at the same place would be a nightmare.

I can see maybe doing one or two for Bridal party members that are flying in from out of town, but that's about as far as I would go with it.

Overrated - weddings are already so expensive and there's so many things to do in the final few days without worrying about stuffing gift bags! I've never had one as an out of town guest and nowadays, a lot of people are staying in AirBnBs anyway instead of hotels so it isn't really practical any more.

I am impartial really. Any wedding I have attended out of town I have never had a welcome bag where we stayed. I do like this idea for those travelling from out of province/country though. We are doing something like this but with a twist! As most of our guest are coming from out of province and checking in the night before the wedding, the morning of the wedding I will be having a little breakfast basket sent to our guests. So they won’t have to get up early to get breakfast or spend even more money on room service after plane tickets and accommodations.

I think they're overrated for out-of-towners in the same province/country. We definitely didn't do welcome bags for relatives coming from Ontario.

They are nice for destination weddings - but again still overrated to me. Most hotels/resorts provide guests with anything they could need out of town.

Overrated. I’m prepping my guests before they arrive so they don’t feel uncertain when they leave

Underrated as for guest coming from another country as previously mentioned.

For the other guest. No, I feel favors are sufficient.

Underrated, we don't have many guests traveling for the wedding but I do want to do little welcome bags for those who are. It's the least you can do for someone who has to buy a plane ticket to attend your wedding

Neither, really. I think they're a really nice touch for out of towners who've never been in town before, but unnecessary for anyone who has.

I guess underrated. i think they're cute and a nice gesture, especially for the people who are attending out of province/country.

Overrated for me. I love the idea, but with the wedding expenses, its super small on the list of happening and not a must have.

I'll have people staying in a hotel but they are only about an hour from home. I dont think I'll bother with them.

Underrated? Only if they guests are from out of country. Out of province welcome bags are silly imo.
