Welcome Bags: Necessary or Not?

Lynnie, on December 17, 2018 at 09:05 Posted in DIY 0 29

Are welcome bags with wedding goodies a necessity for your out-of-town guests? Or are they a wedding "extra" you're skipping?

We are skipping them. I do like the idea of them, I think they can be fun- however we have SO many out of town guests that the cost to do this would just be too much.

Skipping! Most people coming out of town have been here before and know what they are doing etc. Too much work lol

We are skipping them. Both of us have been to several out of town weddings and didn't receive one so I assume none of our guests expect them from us! Way too many other things to worry about!

No. I'll happily ply my guests with links and recommendations before they leave.

Not necessary. I'd honestly love to do this but it's just not fesiable.

Definite no. I think these are a great substitution, and probably necessary actually, for wedding favours if you're doing a destination wedding... so it's a nice "Welcome and Thank You for being here, here's some goodies"... But for a local wedding I don't think it's necessary to do for the out of town guests, total extra option if you have the budget.

Not. Most people don’t use or need the items so some of them go to waste.

Skipping. Just an extra expense. If we were doing a destination wedding then I can see these being done. But my sister is the only super out of town guest, and she used to live here...

Nah, just an extra expense that I'm not overly interested in. They're a cute idea though!

Not necessary, it is a nice gesture. We will be skipping this though as our guests will be spread all over.

Not necessary but I’d like to see them happen. Especially something seasonal for the kids! (Easter wedding weekend here!)

Not necessary... except for kids! Totally think they should have something to keep them occupied during the boring stuff lol

    Nice gesture. but not necessary.

I think my FMIL is doing some for her friends that may come from the states. but that is because she is planning other things for them to do while they are here.

Not necessary. Adds such an extra cost. And a lot of our guests won't be in the same hotel making it very hard for us to deliver them

We won’t be doing this. we won’t be having very many out of town guests, so there wouldn’t be much point

Not necessary. A nice touch if people are coming from other provinces/countries though.

Not necessary - we aren't having welcome bags but any guests that are here in advance will have the opportunity to join our rehearsal dinner or lunch the day before.

I think if you are doing a destination wedding with a small group its a great added touch, perhaps an alternative to favours...but definitely not necessary otherwise.

Not necessary. We aren’t doing these. We will have family coming from Poland (possibly) and we will enjoy time together rather than create a bag.

Not necessary, but they seem cute and fun to put together. i might do them depending on how many people get a hotel room

Never necessary but if you have guests that are not used to the city then I would think it's just a really nice thing to do if it's in your budget. If we had guests from even a different province I would make welcome bags.
