Weekday wedding

Kaylie, on October 20, 2017 at 19:30 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 6
Hey everyone! I’m wanting to hear from those of you who had a wedding during a weekday as it may be one of our only options for our venue we want. Pros? Cons? Experiences? Wish you avoided a weekday completely? Let me know! We are keeping it small and most people invited are shift workers or retired. The odd teacher and elementary student is more who I’m worried about

Wr got married on friday based on the price. Its easier that way. For those guests travelling monday to thursday, traffic would be something keeping them back in time. Sunday is also a good option.

You can see if your venue is available on a Sunday as well. We had a daytime wedding, served brunch food and played lawn games. We got a significant discount on our venue and were able to choose whatever date we wanted. We always wanted a morning wedding so this was perfect for us. The guests enjoyed it as well because it was over by 4pm so didn't affect work the next day. However, if you want to have the traditional evening reception, I think Sunday isn't the best day. I'm just thinking, as a guest, I'd rather go on a Thursday or Friday night as opposed to a Sunday.

I think if you give enough notice, most people can book a day off during the week. Try to have your wedding and reception early enough the people can get home and ready for work the next day. Our wedding was on a Sunday. Ceremony was at 3 pm, cocktails at 3:30, dinner at 5 pm, speeches at 6 pm, dancing from 6:30 to 9. Most people had left by 8:30.

I got married on a Tuesday for the date reason. I wanted to get married on the 8th. The pros were most things were cheaper because it's a weekday. Also, I planned my wedding in 8 months and somethings were booked up close to years in advance for the weekends. Having the weekday gave me the flexibility to have the vendors I wanted in short notice. I booked my hair lady and florist the week before for example. And my venue wasn't available for any weekends in August so the weekday worked perfect for things like that. Worked perfect for short notice bookings and discounts.
The only con was some people complained about having to take time off work. I didn't care cuz I felt like that just shows who your true friends are. I gave 6 months notice so that's plenty of time to book a day or two off work. Not a big deal.
That being said, another pro was it kept my numbers low which I wanted that. I invited 75 and 50 showed which was actually the exact number I wanted.
I hear what you're saying about the school teacher but they have substitutes they can call upon. Some ppl might complain but I personally didn't care about it. Show up or not.

We got married on a Friday for that exact reason. It was easier for people to take an extended weekend than a day off in the middle of the week. Our other choice was on a Monday, but we thought giving people time to recover after the wedding would work better, especially for anyone who had to travel.

We are getting married on a Friday and we find that a lot of our guests prefer that because they have an extended weekend and we aren’t taking up their entire weekend as well.
