Wedding Website

Laura, on February 4, 2019 at 20:12 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 15

So a wedding website is on the checklist. How many of you actually made (and use) one? Do you recommend making one? I'm not sure what I would put on it, so if it's something that would be useful, I would love some examples.

Thanks in advance!!

I made one here on wedding wire... I sent out all my invites with the wedding website on it. I made it for extra information and what not. I spent hours perfecting it adding things like google map address for the venue, info about blocked rooms, local things to do between ceremony and reception, a quiz and pictures to name a few.

I never put the RSVP section on it as I my cousin did this and I didn’t like the fact that you could basically search anyone you wanted to see if they were invited and weather or not they RSVP’d. I have made an email address and am using that for RSVPs instead.

That being said for my wedding website I have it set for my guests to sign in the first time they enter the site and I’ve had maybe 10% of my guests actually check it out.

It it almost feels like it was a waste of time and I don’t feel like I’ll update anything on it. Maybe when the wedding date is a few weeks away more of my guests will check it out.

We made one on withjoy, and are using it for our rsvps and info about the wedding day. There's also a spot for pictures, stories, bridal party info. It's been pretty easy to use and it's got some beautiful designs. Smiley smile

We utilized ours totally. It helped save extra inserts/text with the invitations. We did a little blurb about us on one page. Info on the day of stuff (address, attire, parking, liquor, dinner, times, etc). Then we had a whole page explaining our request for gifts towards our honeymoon fund. It is also where we did our e-RSVPs, because most of our guests were tech friendly. I sent out about 8 RSVP cards out of 70 invites, for some older guests.

Also it was a nice place to post some of our engagement photos, which I put in the banner image, and on some of the pages.

We have one with wedding wire too! I do have to rework some things on it but it'll save from having a ton of enclosures with our invitations.

We have a general page about us, although we don't go into every single detail about our relationship. We'll also have a directions page with a map showing landmarks (There's a mall, hospital nearby), a FAQ page, A timeline page (I have to create the timeline still), RVSP page (not up yet), Accommodation/hotel information (our wedding is in a hotel), and a contact us page.

I made one! Mine is from WeddingWire - https://www.weddingwire.ca/web/toriandkael

So far I love it and love the fact that if by chance the guests forget their invitation on the way to the wedding they can pull up the website and get directions Smiley smile

You can make so many pages that are helpful! I haven't posted all the pages I have (they are hidden) but I have a map to the venue, intro to wedding party, questions on what people will be drinking, would they like the added option of mac&cheese, how well do they know me and my FH quiz, etc.

I did make one and i can see that only a couple of people looked at it. Other than that, didn’t use it.

I love the wedding wire website, its soooo easy to use, even the older people in my family who aren't so tech-savvy found it easy. It's amazing for RSVP's and can save you tons of phone calls and $$ on stamps for return postage. Its totally customizable so you can change the colors to go with your theme, change all the wording to the way you like it, but it also gives you a rough template to start with which was SUPER helpful. I would of been so lost otherwise. You can also link hotel accommodations to the website for guests to easily book their rooms under your blocked off section which is nice!

We used AppyCouple. If you opt for them register and then wait about a week to purchase they’ll send you a “don’t forget about us” discount of about 10-20%.

The primary reason we used AppyCouple is because it had the only variety of website designs that my FH and I could agree on.

We also appreciate the app feature.

I find them super useful in a kind of “teach a man how to fish” way. Everything they could possibly need to know about our wedding weekend is on the website.

We strayed from the traditional “this is who we are/how we met/our wedding party” information, and stuck with the pertinent details, including hotel discounts, our favourite places to visit, and FAQ’s.

We also sent the save the dates and invites electronically using the same site. And ours has an app.(see screenshot)

We don’t have a registry but if we did a link to it would be on the site.
