Wedding Vows - Traditional or Modern?

We can't come to an agreement. I want to say my own but he's nervous talking in front of people, and he's dyslexic so reading something even if he writes it for himself will be hard for him. He says I'm such a good speaker and writer mine will be so good it will make him sound even worse, which is kinda sweet but I think he's wrong, I think he would do great. I guess I don't know what we'll do yet.

A mix of both because we are saying in sickness and in health part but we are also writing our own vows.

I have not decided this yet, there are so many pros and cons to both.

I really, really, reeeeally wanted the write-your-own, make everyone laugh/cry, etc vows, but my groom is very nervous about speaking in public, and he already is nervous about repeat after me, so self-written vows are a no-go for us.

However, we will be trying to personalize our repeat-after-me's as much as we can. It's not a religious ceremony, so we can make it whatever we want it to be.

Also, we have agreed to do hand-written 'love note' style vows for before the ceremony. I was given 2 vow booklets, so I want us to write something from the heart to give each other.

Kind of in-between for us! They were a little more modern, but we didn't write our own!

I wanted to do a version of traditional vows so that I wouldn't have to do any public speaking but my husband wanted us to write our own so we did. I am actually glad that we did in the end.

I want to do modern but FH doesn't, so traditional it is.

More modern we found vows online we really like and will be using those.

This one is still up in the air... apparently... originally, FH wanted to do our own vows (so I got on board and I started writing). Now he’s saying he doesn’t know if he wants to write our own anymore... so, I guess we will see... O.O

Modern! I don't like traditional vows. I LOVE when couples write their own, it's so much more meaningful and romantic. It always makes me cry and that is why I almost didn't want to do it but I'm just going to suck it up and write them even though I'll cry for sure.

We still have to meet with our officiant to go over the ceremony. I think we’ll stick to something more traditional and try to personalize it a bit.

For the church we have to do the traditional vows that are provided by the church! However I hope to make our own personal/modern vows during the reception speeches! At least in the reception too I feel we can make them emotional but also funny and fun with the party crowd happening!
