Hi guys does this seem like too much to spend on just a venue I'm green to wedding planning but from what I'm reading I'm not sure if this is a good package or not .

    Hey!

So there were 2 main reasons I didn't go with them. One had nothing to do with venue at all
    1. I did my venue search in Feb/March. My last venue was the start of covid lockdown. Between March and May I decided to cut down my guest list from 130 approx to 80. So I booked a smaller venue and closer to home.
    2. Even if I had gone with the larger guestlist. I wasn't comfortable with the cost associated with it. I have an excel (well 2 actually), where I guestimate costs with taxes and fees like SOCAN. I was looking at probably, anywhere from 27k-30k for a 130 person wedding. Regardless if anyone is helping pay, if you haven't done so I would find on Google, make an excel spreadsheet, or if someone you know has one. I could also send you my spreadsheets if you'd like.
A minor reasons was that after talking about it we didn't feel comfortable dancing in a former church. However, I was planning to ask the venue if I could use the small area inside the barn near the entrance as a dance floor, as we wouldn't have had many dancers anyways.

What were the main reasons you didn't book with them if you don't mind me asking was it the increase in package cost? Or the food not included?

Are you bringing a caterer in or using the one they provide do you have a cost yet for dinner? Just curious the cost they charge per plate.

Doesn’t seem to expensive to me, we are planning my daughter’s wedding for Oct 2021
Our venue is Weston Golf and Country club
We are looking at approx 60 guests and just the reception/ceremony is approximately $9000. This does not include , Dj, photographers etc.

It doesn't sound like a terrible price. It's nice that you'll have all the basics there and won't need to worry about coordinating that.

Hey I actually visited this place when I was looking for venues! I wanted to get married there and almost booked them. Absolutely stunning and lovely people! The signature package has gone up since I went in March of 2020 but I guess that's due to Covid and costs. I would say they are in the middle end of wedding prices based on my venue search but definitely not the cheapest venue out there. For both of the options you have selected above, you would be paying for food per person as it's not listed in the cost break down. I remember thinking originally that the food cost was included in that initial price.

You can put your decor up the day of starting at 9am. We are literally just doing table runners and some centerpieces, The venue does not require more than that in my opinion. (the have garden/ potted plants and hanging plants everywhere)

The inn is $325 a night (it will accommodate me and my 4 bridesmaids) and the salon is $190 i think and it comes with an entire separate upstairs room for your makeup/ hair to set up. It literally an entire century home that you get. It also has a kitchen and netflix!

We did a full package including ceremony, open bar, cocktail hour, dinner, reception and late night food. We also paid a little extra to have a bon fire after dinner. We did not book our DJ through them. We booked out wedding 2 years ago and they didnt have that option then. I did however have blackcreek music DJ my Jack & Jill and they were great.

You will pay extra for the upgraded wood chairs to match the tables ($3 per chair) but I think its worth it.

They provide a back room in the church or the "Bank" for the guys to get ready the day of. They will even put out a bucket of beer for the guys if you request it.

Let me know if you have any more questions

Wow Brianna this helps me out so much!! I have yet to talk to anyone that has had a wedding at this location or a wedding coming up. You picked the full service wedding then? Does the venue allow you to decorate the day before or are you having to do any decorations? They definitely seem like they offer lots of different options . How much extra is it to book the inn the night before if you don't mind me asking? I hope you don't mind all my questions I'm just so excited !

I'm getting married here in 2 weeks!!!

I got engaged 2 years ago, so I did my research for cost in the area. Cranberry Creek is actually pretty cheap compared to the alternatives in the area. Many other places you need to supply a tent and catering and everything on top of a steep rental fee for the location.

We opted for a package that included almost everything. They have been great to work with and the venue is BEAUTIFUL! we saved a lot on decoration costs since the church and barn itself is so nice. And the whole place lights up at night! (they have strung lights all over the trees and garden, its amazing)

I also booked the Inn/ Salon that is on site for the night before and night of my wedding. My bridesmaids are staying over the night before and my FH and I will have the Inn the night of. IT makes everything sooooo easy, and its a beautiful century home they have decorated perfectly for pictures.

Also, their in house caterer, Devlins, is amazing. Ryan is so easy to work with and the food is great!

Its a one stop shop venue, I highly recommend it!

Those are both pretty good prices for what they say you get, but I’d be asking what the packages don’t include since that’s where the mark-ups usually are for price. If you shave to pay a lot extra for one versus the other, that might help with your decision.

I do have to say that is a really good price for what you're getting. My fiance and I's venue we've paid $6000 for our ceremony and reception package

That's not bad especially considering it includes two venues, the ceremony fee, all the labour for set up and take down, plus in-house AV. Does the space also include a bridal suite for you to change into, or do you plan on arriving in your dress?

This price is in the middle ground of what Toronto area pricing is. On the low end, you see $2000 but that also is based on a minimum catering package with the venue. Otherwise, it can go for $7000+ on high end.

The in-house AV is such a huge bonus because you can now negotiate a cheaper DJ since they won't have to lug heavy speakers etc.

The only thing I would ask about is whether you need to get venue insurance or if they have it covered.
