Wedding Venue Cost 1
Hi guys does this seem like too much to spend on just a venue I'm green to wedding planning but from what I'm reading I'm not sure if this is a good package or not .

They will require a deposit, then you can pay in installments. The final balance is due 2 weeks before the wedding, so you can pay as much or as little (after the deposit) as you like up until the final balance is paid. We paid the deposits, then paid the full lump sum 2 weeks before the wedding, but you can do it however you like.

I email them constantly. Or I booked a phone call/ meeting and made a bunch of changes at once.

I didn't use the portal that much. I did most of my communication through email and just used the portal when they needed my info or to pay an invoice. You can opt out of the shuttle if you don't need it. You can pretty much customize anything you want. Just ask them!

This is so helpful I didn't know how the process works so this is great I'm sure I'll be making lots of changes 😊 did you just send them emails with changes or did it through the portal?

Sometimes the portal doesn't update quickly, or incorrectly. But they will go in and fix it before charging you anything. They will confirm all details and make changes up to the last 2 weeks before the wedding. I have added and subtracted so many things over the last couple months, I had them making changes an hour before I paid the final bill! I think you should be able to keep it under $15,000! We were around $20,000 but we have a 100 guest plated meal, passed hors d'oeuvres, dessert, open bar, place settings, upgraded chairs, late night food, the Inn, the Salon, the bon fire, the shuttle.. etc.... If you can add it, I pretty much did lol. So if you have less people and arent going crazy, its easy to keep it under $15,000.

Im pretty sure I'm going with the signature reception with add ons. I'm trying to keep cost under 15,000 if possible. Did you have issues with the online portal adding amounts and selecting your choices?

Yes, we viewed the venue over 2 years ago, so it looked completely different than it does now.

You don't have to view before finalizing, but I just suggest you get out to see it. Its beautiful!

Have you decided to go with a full reception package?

I would definitely go out and see the venue first. They will likely hold your date until you get to see it. You really should make the trip. It’s beautiful and they just keep adding and adding.

You don’t have to have final numbers until 2 weeks before the wedding. They will adjust the price up until then.

Hi Brianna this helps me out alot. So I have a few questions once I send back the proposal that doesn't lock me in until I see the venue right because I'd like to see it before I make that big decision . Also for the in house caterer I'm going with the $51.75 plated dinner now I have a guest list but without sending the invitations yet I don't have exact numbers for the day as I can't for see the future haha will she adjust the cost does she require exact amount of people once I get RSVPs back ? Not sure how it all works .

Don't know if it helps, but Cranberry has a whole bunch of different bar options and will also create a custom bar option for you. You just need to ask. We did the open bar as the easiest option. It does sound like a lot, but at a regular bar it would work out to about 6 drinks a person.

The open bar also includes wine on the table, soft drinks, water, bar tenders, tea and coffee with dessert. I thought it worked out to be pretty cheap (but we have some drinkers!).

Yupp that's me! Even after I speak to every vendor I seem to have more questions. What I do is go on Google and type questions to ask your "venue" , "florist" etc. Then I give myself like 2 days to compile a list of any questions that I forgot to ask. Then I send an email, also for a paper trail. If they're annoyed at least i don't have to speak to them personally. I hope everything works out!

That's a great idea, ughhh I just hate asking so many questions and coming off cheap . But I also have a budget right. I'm just trying to figure out how to make this venue work for me. I did speak to her on the phone but afterwards had even more questions 🤣.

I don't know the going rate for an open bar but You could ask them if you could bring your own wine? Or if they have a wine only option they could provide for a lesser cost

Honestly I was in love with this place, Even though I went in the middle of winter in February with mud and snow! I loved the balance between rustic and garden. Having everything on site, For ceremony, pictures, and recpeption!

I also had the same worry lol. I emailed and called them multiple times. I had debated on the simple package at the time and the brunch package and even a ceremony only package at one point due to Covid. They were always respectful and quick to respond!
I can only imagine regarding food! Half of my wedding guests are vegan, so it's something I have to think about too!
Just wondering are you near dheli or are you just looking for a rustic venue?

As for the alcohol option I would like to serve wine or something as the ladies enjoy a glass but $45 a person on top of the meal seems like a lot or maybe I'm looking at it all wrong

Thank you so much for helping me I appreciate it so much. I have looked at the proposals yes I hope I'm not annoying the girls in charge as I keep asking them questions via email. I'm vegan so is most of my family so I'm not sure if Devlin's offers that option or not. I keep looking at the two cheaper packages then realizing maybe they aren't cheaper in the long run as I'd still have find a caterer which may make it the same cost at the end anyways.

I just read your post! So ignore my alcohol comment in the next post! I also looked into micro weddings and didn't like the idea of the limited hours, plus usually only a Max of 20 guests. With cranberry Creek I thought most things were included based on how they worried their packages, but when I looked into it carefully there definitely was added costs. So they definitely aren't the cheapest venue. I definitely will send you the spreadsheets. I'll message you privately!

Hey I know you didn't ask me this question. If you reach out to them they create this portal for you and they send you a PDF document where you can select from different packages and then select add ons ( chairs, bar package, enhanced food, etc) if they're not included in your package. Then there is a total at the bottom with taxes.

Looking back at my printed documents from February, using Devlin's their preferred caterer, Buffet dinner said starting at $47.75 a person and two course plated meal starting at $51.75 a person. Cocktail reception wasn't an option at the time so I don't have pricing for that. We would have been having a dry wedding but if you're serving alcohol which isn't included in the signature package, Just the service. Based on February prices it would be 45$/ person for open bar, $7.00/person cash bar, $21.95/person token bar

I can understand completely your change of heart. I'm looking at less than 60 ppl so a smaller wedding as well. I absolutely love the venue it's absolutely stunning I'm just not comfortable spending that much money like you said. The complete wedding package starts at 17,000 but keeping in mind that doesn't include table decor, photographer etc that will exceed my budget completely that is why I'm look at all of the packages they offer. I'm just a little overwhelmed with all the minor details. I just want a small intimate wedding with my closest family and friends and to enjoy a good meal. I'm not interested in a dance or drinking. I have been looking at micro weddings but they definitely limit the length of the wedding and how many guests but I'm definitely keeping my options open. I would really appreciate the spreadsheet I think that definitely could help me I'd appreciate that .

Sorry to simplify the answer, it would have been a cost associated reason. Even when I looked at having a smaller wedding there, it just didn't make sense cost wise. I felt like I could get more somewhere else. It was a hard descion though because there were pros and cons to every venue I saw. I.e the cheapest option was a nice and spacious place it but wasn't rustic in theme.
Regarding their price increase even up until June their prices remained the same. So I don't think the mark up would have affected me.
