Wedding timeline

Kaytee, on August 23, 2017 at 12:49 Posted in Wedding reception 0 24
What does everyone's timeline look like? I am trying to create ours and I am not sure if first dance should be BEFORE or AFTER the dinner. I feel like after, only because we are doing speeches before dinner and it is really cramped for time. Also, when do you do the garter/bouquet toss? Cake cutting?

That is how I would do it too.

If the ceremony is 4-5 ish then I would do pictures at 2. Depending on how many you want and how many locations. Give you time to do a touch up if need be.

I would do the cocktail hour right after. 5 to 6 maybe or 5-7. Dance after I am assuming? Then late snack at 9 or 10. Or later if it was meant to be a midnight thing.

It is so funny to get a comment on a post I made so long ago. Congrats! Would the cocktail hour before before our after the ceremony? Do you want pictures before or after the ceremony?

I'm trying to figure out a timeline for our wedding. We aren't serving dinner but are having a cocktail hour. I also want to have the photos done before everyone shows up as I would want to spend the cocktail hour with our guests. We're planning on starting the ceremony between 4-5. Also, we are serving late night snack options. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

Shen it came time to create my timeline, i went about before dinner:
    Bollywood entrance
    Mother and sons dance
    Cake cutting

    After dinner:
First dance took place about 11 30 since we got our evening pictures taken outdoors towards the end of dinner.

I was thinking of doing first dance and all fun games after dinner. That way first dance can start off the party for the night Smiley smile

Ive also made some fun games and stuff to play later in the evening so hopefully no one will get bored lol...plus we have a great DJ who I know will have everyone one the dance floor all night. Or you can have your 1st dance right after your entrance. Just a suggestion 😊

I have 23 more days and the only reason Im doing the 1st dance before dinner is because we only have our photographer for 5 hrs so we kinda have to cramp everything at the begining of the reception which starts at 5:30. 😕

I'm on this stage too and I am also struggling...I have 2.5 weeks to figure it out. I am thinking first dance will need to be after the supper because of time. Our ceremony starts at 5:30 so if we don't eat ASAP people may get hangry

Our reception starts at 5:30, we are having the MC introduce everyone as they walk in and we are doing our first dance right away (we won't even sit down). We will have 1 speech, then dinner starts and there are 2 more speeches throughout dinner. After dinner, we will do our speech and then dessert is served (this is where you could do your cake cutting, or if you have a late night buffet you can do it right before that is served). Once dessert is done, we will have father/daughter and mother/son dances to kick off the dancing for the rest of the night. Typically you would do bouquet toss/garter at some point during the dance. The MC or DJ just announces it.

Depending on how many speeches you are having, you may have to play around with your timeline a bit. Hope this helps!
