We both just really like 80s music and 80s movies! And we thought it would be fun to make that the theme for the social.

That's awesome!! Were you guys big into the 80's or 80's kids?

For our social we are playing lots of 90's music and early 2000's (FH: 1990 Me: 1997)

Tickets are in! We can now start selling them. We almost have enough people that said they're coming to pay for the venue. Now to get the tickets to them.

Thank you Tori! The rest of the bridal party seems to be on board with the idea. It's just the maid of honor and best man that have been a little bit unsupportive. But we are still positive that it will be a hit! Our tickets should be arriving tomorrow so we can start selling them right away 😊

So exciting!!! I'd say getting help from the wedding party was something that we very much appreciated - but I'm a planner and perfectionist so naturally everything was/is under my control and I just delegated things for them to do.

As for food, I highly recommend the usual social food (bread, deli meat, cheese, pickles, etc.) but you could always try reaching out to Domino's for pizza. Domino's has a discount of up to 50% off for socials through this email - **************@***.** Of course, not sure if it works out of the province of MB but it's worth a shot.

If you need any advice, opinions, etc. on socials just let me know and I'll do my best!

We are having a social in June. Although we live in Saskatchewan. It's a very recognized thing here and not many people here get the concept but we decided we would try it. It has been a little difficult though just cause our maid of honor and best man are those people who don't understand and last time we met with them they were kind of negative and unsupportive. So we've been planning it ourselves.
We have lots of prizes that were donated. We have one grand prize for sure. I still have to go through the other prizes and see if there's another grand prize. We have a venue that holds 200 people. A friend is making the playlist for us and my cousin is going to bartend for us. We're still figuring out the food though. So still a bit of planning to do. But we should be getting the tickets on Monday so then we can start selling them ☺

Yes we have been engaged since Christmas Eve 2017 so I’ve had a lot of planning time!
Thank you for the tip I was looking at Labelle printers because they do the grand prize sheet of 5 tickets which I liked a lot instead of the rolls of tickets for grand prize!
Thanks for your pricing info I’m finding a lot of people are around there for pricing which is good to know!

Wow you have so much done already!!!

If there is anything I can help with knowledge wise let me know!

As of right now, I'll just recommend you not buy the raffle tickets and 50/50 tickets and etc. from Party Stuff if you were planning on it!! They are expensive man! If you can, try and be on lookout on Marketplace or local wedding groups on FB to grab some half used and not-used rolls, otherwise I recommend Labelle Printers as their prices are at least $5 cheaper per roll.

As well, we are most likely doing this for our ticket packages:

$20 = 2 reg. prize sheets, 1 grand prize ticket

$40 = 4 reg. prize sheets, 3 grand prize tickets

$100 = 6 reg. prize sheets, 4 grand prize tickets, 1 golden ticket

Not sure about what to sell separate stuff for just yet though...

Best of luck Tori! Would love to hear how it goes!

We are having ours this New Year's Eve $10.00 a ticket. Right now we have 8 grand prizes and about 19 planned regular prizes, a golden ticket prize plus door prize, 50/50 and a party wagon. Our bridal party and family have been amazing donating prizes already.

We have also been going to all the socials we can trying to win prizes to add to our own right now we have 5 prizes that have been won from other socials which takes some stress off of us.

Our venue holds 675 people and they provide the DJ and food and do all the set up and clean up. We will be having the regular lunch meat cheese pickles social spread for the food.

Right now I'm trying to figure out what to price our silent auction ticket packages at and how many tickets in each package.

Good luck with your social and the rest of your wedding planning Smiley smile

    Best of luck Tori!

We had ours on New Year's Eve. I think we had 15 regular prizes and 4 grand, plus door prize and 50/50.

It was a pretty successful event, but I'll be honest, it was difficult to enjoy the evening. I hope you manage to have fun and relax, because I was hella stressed, and running around like a crazy person all night. Happy to be on the other side of it haha Smiley smile
