Wedding show in Niagara

Rayanne, on January 11, 2020 at 11:58 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 15
So this is the second wedding show I've been to, one great thing about a long engagement. I'm really excited. I know how I want to tackle this one. I'm definitely going to the second fashion show. The first wedding show I went to was crazy busy as soon as it opened and when we were leaving....crickets. I feel it'll be so much easier to ask questions and not feel rushed from other brides behind you. I'm planning on going to this one because a lot of the dress shops had discounts if you booked your appointments at the wedding show. Besides I won my photobooth last show maybe I can win something else lol. How did you find the wedding shows in your area? Did you go to more than one? I may go to the Fall one as well, it will be really close to my wedding date but the FH wants to go to one but doesn't feel comfortable being the only guy. Who did you take with you to the wedding show? I went with my MOH and mom to the first one. I'll be going with my mom and daughter to this one. I think my four year old will love the cake samples and the fashion show.

We went to the fall show in St. Catharines the year we got engaged. I went with my then fiance, and my parents. I actually ended up winning 4 tickets from the radio station, so it was free to go. Honestly, that was the only reason I went. I think if I would have had to pay, we wouldn't have gone. We went just before the second fashion show and there was barely anyone there. I did find my florist so it was a win, and saw my dress in the fashion show which was super amazing.

Other than that the free cupcakes were a win lol, and it actually gave my Husband the opportunity to see which suit colour he wanted because he was very undecided

I dont think the Toronto show would be helpful to me as all the vendors would be too far away

The one we went to was $15 each which wasn't bad. The one last week was $40 per person for the early bird price and $50 at the door.
A big city show is probably more helpful. Here there are a handful of bakeries and dress shops so if you've been to one show you've seen them all.

This one is half price after 2. Only $12 to start off with. Daughter will be free. I can't even fathom what a show in Toronto would be like though.

My mom and I went to one and I didn't find it helpful at all. We arrived early for a session of planning bootcamp which was the only worthwhile part.
The venues tended to be more barns and rustic spots, and the displays of decor didn't inspire me. The space was too small to be able to see the dress show.
It was a curated event from a wedding planner of her "favorite" vendors. I feel like a bigger event with more variety would be better. I skipped one last weekend because the tickets were outrageously priced in my opinion.

This one has two wedding shows. I found last time I went everyone pretty much cleared out after the first show. I'll be going a bit later to see if second show is better. It's a rainy day here so it really doesn't matter.

I brought my FH and my parents with me! My dad and FH loved it and went off to explore and enter draws while my mom and I met the vendors.

I'm hoping it'll stay quiet when we go. My sister and her daughter is going to join us. The girls will have a blast. Busy event with 4 and 5 year olds doesn't sound great lol

I went to the one in Toronto which was NUTS! So busy! I’m not good with crowds so I wanted to get out of there so fast so I can’t speak to how busy it was at the end.

I think they’re great to attend though to get price points, ideas, just to talk to other brides - it’s a good experience.

You have your timing set and FH too which is works best for you both. I did have a local baker to make the cake and deliver which is what made it nice to know you have a good relationship to begin with. I do like the idea of knowing local is better than going further of a distance and having the delivery charges tacked on extra as unneeded.

One good thing is FH and I have set schedules. He always has Tuesdays and Wednesdays off, I have a six week rotating schedule that I have put in my phone, I know every day off from now till I should choose another posting at work or retirement lol. So I could book any appointments at the show. I don't really need a lot of vendors for my wedding but it is nice to see the different idea. I do need to figure out cake. I love the nothing bunt cakes but that would require an hour and a half drive just before the wedding not sure if it is worth the stress of having to go there or if I should find somewhere more local who will deliver.

My husband and I attended 1 wedding show in Orillia that was small yet felt expensive when asking prices. It was nice though I had everything done for the most part and all the vendors booked in the manner. Special rates and discounts are amazing given at the show though its limited time and some wanting bookings right away which isn't sufficient time to make arrangements based on schedule unknown for the weeks coming up. It felt nice to see what was new and unique out there in the market now adays.
