Do we need one? Is it worth it? If so what would you put on it? My fiancé and I are both in our 30’s and we’re both beside ourselves on making one without sounding “needy” so to speak. Thanks!

We want to buy a house so maybe money to go toward a down payment for a mortgage.

Agreed with this!!! This is why we made one. We knew we'd have guests that prefer to not give cash and did not want to end up with ugly random crap (especially if you're having a shower because no one really gives cash for that - we had two people give towards our honeymoon but that's it). We put upgrades on ours as well or things we wanted but held off buying for this reason - new camping gear, Vitamix, Dyson V11, air fryer, new towels, some servewear as I took the opportunity to change up our style. On the registry we added a photo of an option to give towards the honeymoon directly through our agent but most did just give cash. We are very happy with how it all worked out! Only one random gift 😅😅

As most couples are living together now a days and you feel you have everything you need, monetary gift is the best way to ask than to receive extras gifts stored away. Some cultural weddings don't even bother with registries as money is the one thing given by the whole family or couple.

My fiance and aren't having one. We bought a house 2 years ago and we have everything already. We have a little card that's going with our invitation letting our guests know that since we don't have a registry we suggest a monetary gift instead

We didn't bother with one. We had been living together for 6 years before getting married so we didn't feel we needed anything, didn't even feel the need to upgrade anything either really. So we nicely put in with the invitations that if guests wanted to gift us something then a monetary gift would be greatly appreciated and would go towards a honeymoon. Some people don't like asking for money, but we kept getting asked what we wanted and where we were registered etc so this seemed like the best option for us. But if you actually feel like you need something, like towels, pots and pans, a small kitchen appliance, bedsheets, etc then those are the kinds of things you typically find on registries. A lot of people even just ask for gift cards from places like Amazon, Home Depot, Ikea, or for a favourite restaurant.

If you have everything you need/want and don’t want physical gifts you could always ask for monetary gifts towards your honeymoon or another big expense.
We also have pretty much everything we need and didn’t need gifts but made a small registry with things we’d like to upgrade and probably would have ourselves in the future. We asked for linen bed sheets, nicer towels (and bath sheets 🤤), an upgrade to my 7 year old superstore dinnerware collection lol, some small appliances like a bigger toaster and an air fryer, and some other miscellaneous kitchen/home items. You don’t have to make it big but some people do want to get you something physical and if you don’t have a registry you risk them coming up with something on their own.
