Wedding planning for 2021

Kelcie, on May 9, 2020 at 12:52 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 12
Hey ladies, hope everyone is staying safe and healthy.
I am just wondering how many of you 2021 brides are going full speed ahead and still planning for next year.. Our date is for June 12,2021.
I’m caught in the middle and I’m wondering if I should start planning and getting decor and hiring vendors or hold off with everything going on until we know more what’s going on. We have our church and reception hall booked and have asked people to be in our wedding party already. with the uncertainty of this virus, I’m trying to stay positive for next year but the unknown is making it so hard to enjoy the wedding planning process..
What are your plans or thoughts on the matter?

The uncertainty of the situation seems tough to know what come of it. The clearance of it all does give the time to start gathering your vendor team complete and then focus on the finer details of the décor and colours.
The dress fitting and suit rentals can be done months before the day.

We are continuing to plan for July 24, 2021. We have the majority of our vendors booked, and a few other ones told us they don't book further than 1 year in advance. For those ones we are waiting until July to contact, so here's hoping they are available among the influx of 2021 weddings!

Hey! First can I just say how exciting it is to encounter another Kelcie who spells her name the way we do LOL this has only ever happened to me on one other occasion.

I think you’d be wise to continue planning as usual, especially with the inevitable wave of postponements still to come. I’m currently planning for August 2021 and I’m optimistic that weddings will be a go next summer. Even if there are still restrictions on festivals, conferences, stadium events etc with thousands of attendees, I’m confident that smaller cultural events such as weddings, funerals, and religious services will be okay by then (hopefully well before then). Like others have said, just inquire about prospective vendors’ policies should the virus reoccur next summer.

We are September 2021 and we are booking as much as we can ! We have so far booked our reception, ceremony, Hair and make up, photographer, and as of Monday we will have our officiant booked, and waiting on a DJ contact. We have had so many vendors say they are already booked...so I would highly recommend using the down time to do as much planning as you can Smiley smile
Every vendor we booked we just asked them what their cancellation & rebooking policy is if we have a similar situation occur next year.

I think you can still do some planning, just be careful to read contracts and ask vendors about cancelling or postponing in case anything should happen.

If you're really worried about the possibility of changing a date avoid buying anything like invites or favors with the date on them until closer to the wedding. The only thing we had gotten with dates on when covid began was our save the dates, but I was about to get dated sticker seals for our invitations and order our invites and a dated guestbook/print. I'm glad I put it off now.
I hope for all our sakes that we have some more normal soon, and that the 2021 brides don't need to go through what we 2020 brides have.

Yes... start booking /planning but consider having a clause in your contract should you have to postpone.

It's good to start booking now before a lot of the vendors get booked up for next year, especially if your wedding is going to be in a smaller town that maybe doesn't have as many vendor options. It's a good idea to ask your vendors what their policy is for rescheduling if it comes down to it, that way you have in writing (should be in the contract to) what your options would be.

I think that uncertainty will be present for a while still. So if you feel very uncertain to the point that you won’t enjoy this, moving it to 2022 is always an option? Otherwise, like the other two posts said, things are booking up very quickly.... we were a June 2020 wedding band wanted to postpone to July next year, but because of lack of availability of our photographers had to push it all the way to September 2021. Everyone we talked to said we booked just in time because they are being flooded with rescheduled couples. Good luck!

We are June 26, 2021 and we have jumped on planning this last week - we took some time when the pandemic hit, but then realized that if we don't book some vendors that they will likely be booked up with all of this year's weddings being moved. I would definitely recommend getting your big vendors booked, like venue, photographer, caterer, etc.

I would still plan! Vendors are filling up fast with all of the couples having to postpone their weddings from this year to next year. I had to postpone my August 8th 2020 wedding to August 7 2021 and my vendors and venue were already filling up fast when I had first talked to them about postponing back in the first week of April
