Wedding planning

Mikayla, on August 28, 2020 at 00:31 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 7
Good evening everyone.

I am struggling with planning my fiancé & I’s wedding. It is set to happen in 2022.
One thing I’m struggling with is we want sparklers & glow sticks (for the kids). We want to incorporate this somehow Into our wedding. Our ceremony will be between 2-3 in a barn. We are okay with doing this later at night. What is a good time during the night to do this? (When cutting the cake? First dance? Love story? Bouquet toss?)
Also, how soon in advanced would you order these? They are on sale now but is it crazy to order 2 years in advanced?
What are some things decoration wise that is good to plan ahead? (Even by 2 years) the more I can get done the better I would feel

I would ask the venue if they have staff who do this, or ask your baker if they do or if they know someone. If you do hire a planner they would likely know someone who can take care of it. If it gets too complicated you could do cupcakes instead of a tiered cake, with a small one for you to cut.

Everyone has great ideas! This may be tricky to decide! We have invested in a storage unit as well as our shed & some storage at my parents for decorations. We were hoping to hire a wedding planner but I’m not sure at this point and time.

That’s a really great idea as well. This may be a silly question but I’ve only been to a few weddings as a little girl. For serving the cake- do we typically hire someone to do this? Who would you look for to do this? Our caterer is a food truck

The sparklers and glow sticks can be used for your first dance as it would glow well while you two are surrounded with the lights around you.

As for décor, I had stored all the small items and favours 12 months in advance though some of the packaging of the favours did go bad. Make space where available for what you have in your home to put all the items needed. Do consider rentals as a back up plan if your deciding to not resell centerpieces and vases.

As long as you have space to store them there's no harm in buying them early since they won't go bad.

I see your wedding date is in August, based on when the sun has been setting lately I'd imagine you would want to do them around 830/9 so it's a little dark but not too late for the kiddos. If you're having a cake that needs to be sliced for guests I would do this after, that way when people come back from sparklers the cake will be ready to be served.

For your sparklers, how about your grand entrance into the reception? After your wedding party goes in, they can stay by the door while cuing everyone at their seats to make a big splash while you go in.

In terms of getting them, you can but I highly doubt supply and demand for glow sticks and sparklers will be such that they'll jump significantly in price. If you order them now, they will literally take up space in your residence for the next two years collecting dust, which could be annoying if your place is small.

For decor, are you hiring a decorator or doing everything DIY? Hiring a decorator now could lock you in on some early pricing.
