Wedding Planners

Sarah, on July 15, 2020 at 22:15 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 6
Hi there! We just recently started planning our wedding for May 2022. I was wondering if anyone has used a wedding planner (either partial or full planning) and would you recommend it to others?
Thanks!

A month of coordinator won't do site visits. They'll attend the rehearsal and be there the day of but they are NOT visiting all the venues for you to talk bookings and sign papers. You need a full service planner or at least a partial planner as some companies call it for that. By the time you're at the month of, all your vendors should be booked. If you're doing a destination wedding (not in the traditional sense, but it's still far enough that you can physically see to things a lot of the time), a full service planner can be useful if you need them to look for and deal with local vendors. That being said, I always advise personally going into the venue before signing if you can.

By the way, most reputable companies won't offer just a day of service. Sometimes the terms day off and month of interchange as they both mean they ate only working a sorry specific period of time, and only coordinating and not planning. If someone is offering a package for just day of coordination and just working the day off and nothing else, I recommend against it. Imagine bringing on a person who is only working with you the day of, with no familiarity with your wedding, no relationships with your vendors or anyone in your party. It would be impossible to properly manage the event going in blind.

A Wedding planner is worth the service depending on how many events your having and the work done for the set and vendors. Pre events and wedding day will vary on locations and décor ideas you have in mind for them to do. Compare 3 best offers to pick the best choice your comfortable with the person and budget wise.

Day of Coordinator is another way to go depending on how you feel their service will be needed for the month or the day. It may be less depending on whom you choose. I find there is always a catch with a wedding planner or DOC of the tear down cost. Inquire and ensure they will take care of it unless they charge you for it.

A month of coordinator may be the best way to go for us. We are having the wedding a few hours away from where we live so it would be helpful to have someone local to manage site visits, vendors etc. Thanks for this insight!

It depends on your schedule and how much you can afford.

We have a month of coordinator, which means we do all the planning like finding vendors and booking venues and during the month of, the coordinator takes over and schedules all the things in place and act as the go to for all vendors to ask questions so we're not bombarded. And she will also be the point person the day of for all things shipping and receiving, managing vendors, setup, and timing of the day.

If you don't feel comfortable with negotiating, or lack the time to physically attend to a lot of the things in the planning process (site visits), a full service planner can be super useful. Full service planning does not mean you completely give up reigns on your wedding's creative control. You provide your planner with any insight to your vision and they work to source you everything you need to bring it to life within the confines of your budget. You still get final say on whether something is a go or not. And full service planners can have special rates with vendors that can make up for the cost of having a planner.

My fiance and I are having a day-of coordinator. Since I've planned my entire wedding from the very beginning. I have loved every minute of this planning process and I didn't want to hand it over to anyone lol

My day-of coordinator will be dealing with setting up decor and such for the ceremony and reception. As well as dealing with our timing of when to walk down the aisle and entrance of our reception and if any last minute things that come up that day, that I don't have to deal with and worry about.
