Wedding planner versus decor company

Jenny, on January 20, 2020 at 22:23 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 6

I think there's some things I'm comfortable with like photography, DJ - I could just talk to them.

I can do planning on my own - but it would be nice to get help. I would prefer not to do decor.

when the wedding planner says they can do "decor design" - does that mean it'll cut down on my decor allocated costs?

Thanks!

I would ask them to clarify what they mean. If sourcing all the decor and arranging decorating stresses you out then it might be worth a little extra cost.

I have hired a wedding planner for decor and to set up and take down on the day of. When I met with her she had specific tiers and prices for the services she offered. From just phone call consultations if I was stuck and needed resources, or to planning every detail and dealing with all the vendors plus everything in between. I felt comfortable enough to deal with most vendors but I didn’t know where to begin with linens and chairs and everything else included with decor. Basically I have five meetings with her most at her place of business, there will be at least one or two at the venue itself. During the meetings we will go over what we are looking for, she will have boards made up to show ideas, then adding fabrics and other items. There will also be a mock table made up after everything is selected so we get to see exactly what is being planned. The fee we are paying includes the meetings and any item pertaining to decor that she will need to outsource including flowers. If you stick to a budget and explain what you are looking for in terms of specific decor and the day off set up most planners will work with you. I hope this helped!

It depends what that includes. she may just mean setting up ur personal decor ur making or buying. you need to ask her. we have a wedding planner and a decor person but thats cuz we're renting a chair a backdrop and massive centrepeices etc.

I'd definitely ask them what all that includes and at what extra cost since I'm sure it would be the same idea as renting it from someone that does only decor. Also be careful if your planner has a sourcing fee if you ask them to find a decor vendor for you.

    Hi Jenny,

If she says she can do the decor, I am sure there will be a eXtra charge. Best bet is to ask her directly.

As for your budget of decor, that's yours.

I’ve found the wedding planners who offer decor typically will have things like card boxes, lanterns, votives, chargers in their “collection” and might include their services to set up and tear down or can help you rent them from other vendors. Some might do full DIY decor for you.
