Wedding Planner?

I personally don't see the point of a wedding planner. You tell all your ideas and dreams to a second-party (the planner) who then contacts third-parties (vendors) on your behalf to then relay the information back to you? It seems like a waste of money as far as I am concerned and it can also lead to a lot of miscommunication or wasted time waiting for answers. Someone to help coordinate things on the day is probably a better choice but your family and friends should be enough to help you out.

Some venue's will offer day of coordination, inquire about this. Since, our venue included this and also the fact that I am a very organized person, we are not getting a wedding planner

I’m also getting married in Banff. There is a “Calgary Brides” Facebook group that has been very helpful. I just recently posted in it looking for a “day of coordinator” and got 25 recommendations to sift through! There were so many good ones. Once I started going through the messages, websites, and social media, I learned that a good day-of coordinator gets heavily involved at least a month out. Some also offer to decorate and take down, and look after any deliveries that day. Some will provide use of their decor for free. I think I’ve decided to go with “partial planning” - I want input on how to decorate and what vendors to use - especially since I’m planning from 9 h away!

We had an out of town wedding and having a wedding planner to manage all the vendors and any last minute details was well worth the money.

From all of my friends who recently got married the advice I’ve been given by all of them is that if you can afford it to get a day of coordinator. It’s apparently a life saver

I am in this exact same situation! Our Banff wedding is about 3 months away and I'm starting to consider getting a day-of or month-of coordinator, whatever you call it. I'm pretty organized but I've heard having someone solving problems on site on the big day is a lifesaver. I've just touched base with Signature Weddings by Ashley, Smitten Weddings (out of Calgary), and Rocky Mountain Weddings. Hoping to get a reasonable price and a planner I like.
