Wedding planner

Emily, on August 25, 2022 at 17:11 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 9
Hello everyone, I am looking on the pros and cons of a wedding planner.. my fiance and I have discussed some details of what we want the wedding to look Like we have found the perfect venue, we have done alot of research ourselves and I have come up with a lot of ideas for the wedding but I am stuck. And not sure if just having my bridal party is enough to help me and the fiance with our choices or if I need an outside person looking in to help..

Sincerely a stuck bride to be 🤣

Budget wise we are not getting one, I've posted on my facebook and most people said save your money, my friend who recently got married had one and she was pleased, not exactly sure what they did for her but I think it's a personal choice.

I hired my bestfriends husband as the MC and the go to person for any decision making.

I personally did not get a wedding planner and did a lot of the planning myself with the help of my MOH and mom. However, it had to be one of the most stressful things I did. Securing the venue and vendors is usually the easier part, but there are so many other small details that can take a lot of time and effort. So it will really depend on how much you are willing to do. I think at least having a "day of" coordinator would be best, they usually meet with you a month before to ensure everything will run smoothly.

Your initial post made it seem like you were choosing between hiring a coordinator vs using your bridal party. But in your situation, it sounds like a partial planner is what you need (if it's in your budget). A coordinator doesn't usually help with the planning of the vision, just the execution whereas a planner will actually talk things out with you during the planning phase and make recommendations after hearing you out on what you want.

Absolutely! What I also did was took pictures of how I wanted things set up so she knew exactly what I wanted to be done

Hank, I have been the one planning my wedding, I'm not asking my bridal party to set up my wedding! I am asking if having a co-ordinator is the better route to go or not.. as I have all the ideas on paper and stuck in my head but I just don't know how to execute it for my vision thanks.

I can't rely on my family to help as my mother is not well enough to help out, my father is a dead beat who hasn't spoken to me in 17 years.

Your bridal party shouldn't be planning the wedding nor should they be the primary go-to's in setting up your space on the day of the wedding. I know a lot of people do this to save on costs but it is my opinion that the people there to support you shouldn't be delegated to slave labour for a wedding. Not to mention the relationships that can be ruined if they don't do things a certain way you liked.

If you've already found a bunch of your vendors and don't mind the research, I suggest going with a wedding coordinator.

Your guest list can be determined to figure out what you done as DIY projects and decor ideas done by yourself or purchased/rented and put together by the coordinator. The cost of the wedding planner added to your budget will have to see if it fits where you want to spend that much.

We did everything ourselves as the venue was simple and beautiful with the sunlight coming through the windows. The only set up was favours with Thank You cards set on the tables, head table glasses and hurricane lamps, along with the back drop in 5 minutes.

It all depends on how much work your putting towards your day to say if the wedding party/family help isn't there to support you. The help is given by your wedding party and/or family, you should be okay to not hire a wedding planner.

My husband and I had a day of Coordinator. She just dealt strictly with the wedding day itself and nothing else. Best decison we ever did was hiring her! She was at our rehearsal to help us with the timing of walking down the aisle. The day of the wedding she set up all of our decor and dealt with any questions the vendors had. She also dealt with some of our guests tale gating in the parking lot which is a big no no at our venue but She handled it so we wouldn't have to and take away from our day. She then helped us with ceremony walking down the aisle timing and then at 6pm she helped us with the timing of walking into our reception and that is all. She was able to go home after that. She could've helped with tare down bit since we had to be out of our venue by 12am our family helped with that.
