I'm not sure what the weather is like where you live (or where you're having your wedding if it isn't where you live), but it might help to think about how Halloween usually goes. Are kids wearing snowsuits under their costumes or can they go jacket free lol? I know I've lived in places where snow or freezing temperatures are a sure thing, where it's a 50/50 toss up, or where it's still warm enough for a light jacket.

But if it's fully outside it's most likely going get quite cold at night regardless and you'll want heaters.

We decided to postpone our wedding to oct 18 and keep it an outdoor backyard wedding. at the time ...we thought that this would for sure be possible and safe even for 100 guests but now i'm feeling nervous and feeling very nervous about how cold it is going to be too. maybe we can do tents with heaters? i don't know how effective the heaters are when the tents are kind of open. sigh*

We got married on October 2 and I was surprised by how mild it was, but our fall weather was really weird this year. Usually that would have been just before the leaves completely turned, but September was cool and windy so the trees were bare really early. October is such a weird month that I would plan for it to be cold and hope for the best. Also keep in mind that October is the middle of hurricane season, I'm not sure if that is as big an issue in other parts of the country but we kept an eye on every storm!

You can also search historical weather data for your area and get an idea of the temperature that week in recent years. I found that helped!

Are you getting married in Ottawa? It'll definitely be chilly by that point. You'll have to let people know so they can dress appropriately. It's also likely a high chance for rain so you'll need an indoor plan B regardless.
