Wedding location

Hi everyone!

We made the decision to postpone our September wedding, however still want to get married on our original date. Anyone else doing this?
We live in a basement apartment and there is a tiny back yard. I don’t think holding a ceremony here will be appropriate, but I don’t know what other options we have (locations that are free). Anyone have suggestions?

You have family or parents in the same city you can have a ceremony since they are allowing few people for gatherings now. It can work as you celebrate your vow renewal next year followed by reception, or have a simple Anniversary celebration.

Friends may also be present if you wish and their home as your ceremony site. Search parks that are open and if they require any fees upon requesting by phone or website.

Parks actually aren't free, at least all of them. You have to contact the city first & some require you to pay to rent the space. I was originally getting married in our local park.

My suggestion would be to think about immediate family members, if your (or spouse's) have a bigger yard that would probably be your best bet for private & zero cost. We changed ours to my MILs backyard, it's not overly big, but is big enough to fit everyone & to social distance

We are postponing ours to next year but getting married on our anniversary this year at city hall if it’s open. The one by our house is really cute and classy. Should make for nice pics. Maybe that’s an option for you

If you pick a park, you have to get a permit otherwise bylaw can shut your event down and force everyone to leave.

The time of day can help with that too, scope out the place at a few different times to see what foot traffic is Iike. Or even get some little signs made that say "privacy please, we're getting married" so people are warned before they run or bike right through your ceremony.

Good idea! I hate being the centre of attention so public places freaked me out but I’m sure we can find a private(ish) area!

There is a spot we wanted to use for photos that I'm hoping we can get married at. It's a brick alley between two historical buildings and it's strung with twinkle lights (it's cuter in person I swear!). If that doesn't work there are some beautiful beaches and parks we could use.

Parks, especially ones with cover in case of rain, beaches, or trails would be free. If they have a website see if there is someone you can email to make sure you aren't breaking any rules!

We are keeping our wedding date for July 25 this year! However it will look a bit different. We're just anticipating having close family and friends, very limited numbers. Our plan was to get married in our church. I'm not sure if we will still be able to, so if not, we'll do it in my grandparent's backyard. If you have any friends or family with a big yard that would be willing to help that would be my suggestion.
