Wedding is a go!

Jenna, on June 9, 2020 at 20:35 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 8
My fiancé and I made the decision not to postpone our wedding this September. We have waited 1.5yrs for this day and we don’t want to wait until 2021 without any guarantee gathering of 100+ will even be allowed.
That being said we will be cutting our guest list in half in order to follow the NB Covid regulations.
I’m confused as what to do about the reception.. can we still have a sit down meal? Can there still be a dance? We plan to invite only our family and closes friends (who are in the wedding party). Most of these people are within their own family bubbles. Any suggestions?

As of now social gatherings in NB are not limited as long as social distancing is in order or the use of community masks. I actually spoke with our venue this evening and they have decided 75 people inside the venue is possible with proper social distancing protocols, they also have a large outdoor space to utilize. We plan to have lawn games and a fire pit with smores bar, and a sanitization station set up. Most, if not all of our guest are family so they will be seated together rather (my aunts/uncles together & his family at seperate tables) than messing our two familys together at tables.

The church we are being married in host 400 guest so we do not have to worry too much about seating arrangements there, the Bishop will ask guest upon arrival to socially distance themselves.

Just stopping by to show my support and wish you a beautiful wedding day! You should absolutely still be able to have a sit down meal if the restrictions in your province for guest count and space are being followed.

I know it’s hard because you really don’t know what the restrictions will be like come September and I just wish you all the love and light you deserve on your wedding day!

This is exactly what we're doing! We still plan to have a reception with those in attendance (immediate family + bridal party, about 30 people, assuming restrictions will allow that). We were originally going to do buffet, but are now thinking a plated meal would be best. We are going to sit people at tables with their bubble, and keep the number per table low. We still plan to have a dance, but have some alternatives too.

Glad your date was possible to get moved and the relieved feeling is there.

The venue should be able to do plated service if you request it depending if there is a cost at the same time. First dance, cake cutting and other moments can happen as long as your with your family and friends. I can't imagine to hear NO from the venue to anything you want done since your guest list is being cut down. I hope everything works out for you two.

Hooray! It will be a wonderful day either way! I appreciate your resourcefulness and determination!

How many people are allowed to gather at a time right now? That could change week over week but knowing what it is now could help you start to think about adjustments you might need to make. I'd also regularly talk to your venue and caterer to see what they will allow.

You have my support and good vibes coming your way!

In ontario our 10 person gathering limit (which is starting friday) is suppose to be 6 feet apart still. so check what youre rules are. service ontarios have exact rules on what to do here so check yours. you may have to keep a big distance still

    That's exciting!

I would ask the venue about how they plan to serve food. They might not be able to have a buffet, but plated meals should be ok because restaurants are open and serving food directly to customers.

The family/friends bubbles we have could come in handy for the dancing. You might need to request that people keep to their usual family friend bubble and keep a little distance from people they wouldnt normally see. I can't speak for you and your guests but my bubble and my most important guest list are the same people so we would be ok to not distance and dance our butts off.
By September the regulations could be a tad looser too!
