Wedding Invitations

Julia, on February 6, 2021 at 13:31 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 12
So, question....

Did any brides have their invitations ordered, and ready to go, but had to postpone the date last minute? What am I supposed to do with the old invites? 😭 Did you have to send out new Save the Dates as well? I'm in shambles right now.
Our date is June 26, but I think the odds I things clearing up by then would be short of a miracle. I'm kind of lost right now 😩

We contacted Vistaprint & told of them of our situation, and they actually credited us back so we're able to reprint. I wasn't sure if they would be able to do anything, but it was very helpful!

We had to postpone and I had all my invitations printed and ready to go. I have had to get them all reprinted.

You can notes to the invitations notifying your guests the date has been changed due to Covid with all the information being the same. You choose to reprint the invitations for the new date, the company may credit you for that reason and have it done on their end. I take it you just got the invitations done and received in the mail.

Printing at home on stock cards or regular paper, you can add it to your invitation as an update them ahead of time.

We’re getting married on June 26th as well (in Montreal), and we had recently sent our save the dates/invitations through PaperlessPost to everyone because realistically, we won’t know anything for sure until probably a month before and we can’t exactly keep things to the last second... It’s so hard to plan and figure anything out right now since things are always changing wirh covid Smiley sad as of now, we are still trying to plan everything as normal as possible because there isn’t much else for us to do with everything being unknown. we have put on our WeddingWire website all the information possible about us planning a wedding during a pandemic and to expect possible last minute changes. Hopefully with it being summer, we will be able to have the wedding we are planning!! I hope everything goes well for your wedding as well 💕💕

I completely understand. We're struggling with all of the issues and potential issues as well. I posted a conversation titled "Struggling" and those who commented were quite supportive and have shared their experiences.

Yesterday family members asked if we're waiting until the "last minute" to send invitations. I don't think everyone quite understands how stressful and complicated this really is.

That's what we're deciding to do right now as well - or trying to. Our hall is being reluctant about changing out date. They're feeling " hopeful" things will turn around for our June 26th wedding, but I'm feeling very very doubtful. So we're sort of stuck right now, we want to pick a date with our other vendors, but can't because of our venue. It's just more and more issues.

Our invitations were printed, sealedN and stamped just before it all really hit us in Ontario. We're due to marry June 27th but I'm not feeling very hopeful right now. We decided to keep the dates to ourselves until we know it's actually happening and what restrictions we will be faced with then. Smiley sad

I had sent out our save the dates right before everything was locked down here. I just recently sent out a new save the date saying our date had been changed. Thankfully i had designed my own save the dates and printed them at costco. So it wasnt a gigantic expense

I'm all about the e-vites, especially if everyone in your party is email capable.

We were just about to order ours last March when everything went sideways. We contacted everyone we sent save the dates to and let them know our plans had changed.

Our plan for our reception this year is to wait until the absolute last minute to order them, even if it costs a little extra for rush printing/shipping.
I had heard of a few couples who contacted their invite company (Vistaprint etc) and got discounts on their reprints. That was early in the pandemic so I'm not sure what they would do now but it's worth an email to customer service if you've already printed them!

I've had someone actually suggest making my own little stock cards, and just sticking them with the original invites, just adding a note saying the date has been changed. I thought it was neat idea, still very cost effective. So I think that may be the route we take. I just figured I'd get some other brides opinions, too.

One of my friends had to postpone her Oct 2020 wedding to this year. Unfortunately she had already ordered her invites in advance so she now has a stack that she can't use. It's super unfortunate and all she can do it move on and re-print with the new dates. If you have a contingency built into your budget, perhaps that can cover it (or a portion).

I've heard of other couples sending the new save the dates via email to keep costs down. I know it doesn't 'feel' the same doing it that way but it be a good option if your cost-conscious.
