Wedding Invitations

Chelsea, on September 9, 2020 at 13:14 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 10
Hello everyone! I'm wondering if people actually still mail out their invitations to everyone or is there another way to do it?

A Save the Date is sent in advance of the invitation - it's so people can make themselves available for the wedding - almost like a heads up, mark it on your calendar!

Save the Dates are sent anywhere from 8-10 months in advance of the wedding. Invitations can be sent closer to the date - I originally sent my invitations out 6 months in advance (which was a bit long to be honest - but it was a summer wedding so we wanted people to RSVP). This time round, I'll probably send my invitations 4 months out.

Thanks everyone so much! So another question I guess. What's the difference between a save the date and the wedding invitation? I could put them together and mail them out right? Or should we really be sending out a save the date AND an invitation?

We will be mailing ours out for sure.

We have our save the dates ready to mail out - they will go out in a week or two. I personally love getting mail, and I think mailing them is much more traditional/personal.

We absolutely did mailed invites with self-addressed stamped RSVP. We like the personal, traditional touch. And it's always fun to get mail that isn't a bill 🙂

Thanks everybody! I appreciate the replies. We would be making our own invitations to send out, I just wasn't sure if I wanted to wait for all the replies to see who can actually come haha. I think we will be mailing them as well. We are definitely not tech savvy so it'll be easier for us I guess. Thank you!!

We mailed ours out to give people a little happy surprise in their mailbox. As long as you’re not in a time crunch for sending invites and receiving RSVPs back, the Canada Post slowdown should t affect you much

You can do electronic invites through a few sites, so people choose to email the details.

We are sending paper invites by snail mail. People love getting mail that isn't bills! My dad is a letter carrier so I'm a little biased there too 😉

Every couple has their decision and I did make invitations to mail out while my cousins made websites with all the information and venues.

Techy couples will go online to save the effort and the cost of paper invitation that would be the same depending on the guest list. This is your choice to make and comparing prices for a better judgement.

My fiance and I are mailing our invites out! We like the traditional way instead of online. It's more personal that way I think.
