Wedding Invatation Addresses?

Renee, on June 25, 2018 at 19:53 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 12

Ok, i can tell that it's time to really get into wedding mode as i am in here posting every other day lol

So i have a question for ladies who already did invites and hopefully had a large amount. I will be sending out 150 invites. How do you address them other than doing each envelope by hand? And how do you make it clear who is invited? ex 1 person vs a plus one or family?

As an added note, i am ordering my invites from this amazing website cardsandpockets.com in case any ladies are still looking around. I ordered samples from them and they are amazing and cheap! They do printing as well and i went with them because i was dead set on getting pocket invites. So happy! But now to address them....eagerly waiting for alllll the tips Smiley smile

Totally get a personalized return address stamp made. there are some good options on etsy!! Will make it a breeze!

I don't really have any tips for addressing to your guests. I'm ordering my invitations from Minted, and they do the fancy-looking addressing for you. Win.

I think you have a few options, and whichever you go with will depend on what kind of person you are. Option 1 is handwriting them all, Only do this if you're willing to put in the time, and if you're a crafty person and enjoy that kind of thing. Otherwise you'll be cursing your cramped hand in no time at 150 invites.

Option 2 is making labels. You can design some pretty awesome ones online and make them look quite elegant. The clear labels are okay, but just know they aren't completely clear, and they'll look like a frosty film still.

Option 3. There is a template in Microsoft word my friend where you can design the envelope, return address and everything. The downside to it, is it looks like you can only do it 1 by 1. So if you don't want to hand write them, or think the sticker label looks tacky, then you can go this route. Mailings, Envelopes is where you'll find it. And then you just have to figure out which way the envelope goes in the printer lol.

Many sites will print the names/addresses on the envelopes on your behalf (same with the RSVP cards).

I know Minted.com does - check in to see if the website you're ordering from does?

otherwise you can always run them through your printer.

We printed on the envelopes and addressed to each person. We wrote, “and Guest” if we didn’t know their guests name or if they weren’t in a relationship or, “and family” if they have children.

My friend used clear labels too, her invites were also gold and the glitter got stuck in the printer. Clear labels are fine, your friends and family will understand when they see you have so many guests and time was of the essence.

We had 90 invites to address, and luckily my FH has much better handwriting than i do so he addressed them all LOL I put them in the envelopes and such, but he wrote everything in one afternoon. It's OK though, he already knows he's the calligrapher in this relationship and henceforth anything that needs to be hand written is on him Smiley smile

I suggested stamps as well, but he refused - said he felt like he was contributing more by addressing all the envelopes.

I agree with Clarissa, but I will add one more

    single : John Doe
single +1: John Doe and Guest

couple but does not live together and you know them both: you 'should' send two envelopes- one for each -, but i just did the "and guest" for them, even though I know their guests.

unmarried couple (that live together): John Doe and Jane Smith
couple : John and Jane Doe or Mr and Mrs John Doe or Mr John Doe and Mrs Jane Smith (if they have different last names)
family : Mr. John Doe and Mrs Jane Smith and family or Mr and Mrs John Doe and family

My ideal scenario was preprinted BUT I'm a bit late to the game and time is not on my side so I can't go that route. I'm thinking printed on labels but my envelopes are gold. Thinking white labels are a bit tacky but saw someone online said they used clear labels? I will continue to investigate this lol

I had a return address stamp made, but I hand wrote all of the addresses for the invites. Are you actually sending out 150 invites or is that the number of guests? We have 150 invites but only had to send 63 envelopes!

I did it over the course of 2 nights so it didnt seem so bad, but I thought it was a really personal way of being able to do them Smiley smile

My invites came preprinted with names and addresses if they were being mailed so maybe see if that’s an option. For those not being mailed (no addresses as I was hand delivering) I had to write them by hand.
For addressing them i did the following but don’t over think it. Just make sure names and addresses are spelt correctly.
    single : John doe
Single +1 : John Doe and guest
couple : John and Jane doe or mr and mrs doe
family : John and Jane doe and family

As per the invites, put the invitees names on the card itself and on the RSVP card the number of guests only so that they have no chance of adding more than whats written.

I had done so with every card i sent out and to make sure it was to my satisfaction.

We got envelopes printed that had our return address on them and then we unfortunately hand wrote all the addresses of the guests but I just had my wedding party come over and help with it all!
We put RSVP cards in the invites that specifically said to "RSVP for" and then listed their names. We have an online rsvp on our wedding website so they need to be listed as a guest on their before they can rsvp.
