Hello to all the newly engaged and new members of Weddingwire! You're probably here looking to plan your big day. This is a place you can post your mood boards and other inspo photos. Let's share ideas and show us what you're planning. Hopefully your contribution can fuel everyone's creativity and inspire them as well. You can post pictures of what kind of setting you would like, the type of decor, your colour schemes, outfit choices etc.

Wedding Inspiration 1

This is our mood board for our upcoming summer/fall wedding. We've personally had to pivot quite a bit because we were originally supposed to get married in the winter, hence the tuxedos and the silver (we were trying to go for a winter wonderland vibe). Can't switch out now since everyone bought our clothes already but we'll make do!

The red reflects the lucky colour for Chinese people, which we'll incorporate into pre-wedding festivities with our immediate family. For the main festivities, we chose orange as a way to warm up the silver. Our main reasons are 1) clementines are a lucky fruit in our culture and I was planning on incorporating them into our centerpieces anyway for our winter setup and 2) our venue is naturally gold looking, which compliments the colour very well, especially with the natural sunlight from the floor to ceiling windows.

The green comes from greenery, which we will use more of for decor instead of flowers. It gives the setup an earthy quality that I think works with the orange. It may also potentially serve as our backdrop as the date change means we can have an outdoor ceremony.

It's a work in progress as our season change from our postponement and the lack of certainty with how the year will play out means we get to try new things compared to what we originally set out to do.

Nice! I agree, do what you want and don't listen to people who insist that we adhere by rules like certain colours for a particular season, etc. And I love how you're bringing a lot of your own history and personality to the event.

We are planning a nautical themed wedding. Our preferred ceremony spot is on the waterfront in my hometown. And our preferred reception venue is the old courthouse that has been converted to a boutique hotel and ballroom. It has some lovely 1920s beaux arts architecture and they’ve kept the actual judges bench and either the jury stands or the witness stands, because those features were considered particularly historical and had to be preserved. So definitely makes the theme “elegant, vintage nautical” (vintage and nautical are two of my favourite vibes in general). We also met in Nova Scotia in a port city and I grew up in a freshwater port city so that’s another place that our inspiration comes from. We also badly wanted to get married on the Tall Ship Silva in Halifax but decided it was easier to do it here (especially for some older family members that wouldn’t be able to make the trip). I recently thought it would be fun to include pictures of different ships that had some connection to either city and some trivia about them at each guest table at our reception. My fiancé is a history buff so I think I’ll give that job to him lol. Still planning a lot of things but I think it will come together nicely, we do have until 2022!

Our colour scheme is navy and blush with gold and rose gold accents, and maybe a splash of dusty/light blue. Everyone is telling me that navy is too dark for a summer wedding but it is a huge component of the nautical theme everywhere you look so I don’t care lol. What I might do is have my bridesmaids in blush and just my MOH in navy (so opposite to the picture of the bride and bridesmaids that I shared above). It works out because my MOH is definitely not into pink, while the rest of the bridesmaids either love it or can take it or leave it.

We might go from orange to ivory. It'll depend on how the orange looks in person. Other than the clementines, we don't want the colour too look like an actual orange lol

The picture of the white background and deep red flowers reminds me of our original winter vision. My fiancee also wanted to use the same type of dried plants.

I photoshopped mine but my phone also has a collage app that can take multiple pictures and make a collage out of them. If your phone doesn't have one pre-installed, there should be a bunch of free ones you can find in your app store. You can also use Canva if you're not Photoshop savvy and prefer using a computer instead of phone.

Im positive you will be able to have the reception of your dreams. The moody look is very inviting especially for fall, I even find dried flowers more appealing than fresh.

I love this so much. Especially the dark florals and taper candles. I strongly considered switching things up to a moody botanical sort of theme like this for our mini covid wedding but we ultimately just had to have it at home/over zoom so I went back to our greenery/candles plan. Maybe we'll end up finding a new venue that will work with this theme for our reception.

My wedding is October 31 2021 it's a small intimate setting , it'll combine dried/dead flowers in old antique bottles with candles and small pumpkins sprayed flat lack with a beautiful table runner. I want a classic , classy take on a Halloween wedding.

I never had a whole mood board as a jumping off point, but I fell in love with candles and greenery with white flowers early on in planning. When I stumbled upon a book arch on a local wedding sale page that cemented a mood for sure!

My mom and I made table runners from book pages and had so many candles. We skipped the greenery runners for 2020 but I plan to have them for our reception this year.

This was my mood board before we found out our venue was being demolished Smiley ups (venue is actually the centre photo of the mood board - can't believe it's becoming condos Smiley cry )

Since nobody will see that wedding come to life I will honour it here hahaha. I hope when we find a new venue we find something as beautiful and can keep the sort of rustic/industrial feel with simple decor.
