Wedding favours

Sarah, on May 20, 2019 at 09:45 Posted in Wedding reception 0 22
What is everyone doing for wedding favours? I really wanted to do the mini plant /succulent idea but I saw succulents going for $6 each which is too much.. so now I’m thinking candles or picture frames. But I will see if there’s another tiny plant I can do for cheaper.. What are you guys doing?

It was a lot of work! My MIL gardens so she had offered. She did have to buy this light though but she said she would use it. If I had known that was involved, I wouldn’t have agreed! Some plants need more light than others and these marigolds needed a lot from seed!

A friend of mine offered to grow something as well. But I will have to look into costs and she’s also pregnant so I don’t know if I want to put her though the work lol marigolds sound super sweet though

We got some really cute little candles that come with a customized sticker on top from https://www.weddingfavours.ca/ and they were just over $1 each so super affordable. We also figured that if people forgot them or didn't want to take them then we would just have extra candles Smiley smile

We did potted plants. My MIL grew them: marigolds. We used them as our centrepieces as well and then each couple got to take home a plant. The pots we got for $1 at ikea and spray painted them. Not sure the cost of the soil and seed as my MIL took care of that

We did custom sunglasses ! Smiley smile came out to $3 bucks each. We figured most of our ball friends and the younger crowd would grab them. Especially as our ceremony is outside in August. And whatever is left over I will eventually ruin them all at ball 😂

We're doing jars of coffee and tea! Considered candles but decided something edible is less likely to go to waste.

I wanted a keepsake that wasn't too much clutter, so we went with personalized shot glasses with our names and date on them as our main favour. We also did the Lindt chocolates in organza bags, and I found an excellent deal on Craig's List for chrome heart topped bottle stoppers (yes, we went a bit overboard, but in my defense I found the bottle stoppers early in my wedding planning days and got excited and jumped on them!)

We were leaning towards the succulents as well until we investigated the price, lol.

I might try to grow some of my own.

We will probably still have them incorporated in the center pieces and decor, just not for party favors.

We also looked into personalized sugar cookies which a local bakery quoted us $2 a piece.

We did Lindor chocolates in organza bags. I think they came out to ~$2/bag and there are so many colours and flavours to choose from.

I’m definitely doing something edible because I always either 1) forget or 2) don’t take the wedding favours if they aren’t edible.

A girlfriend of mine did these nice tea light candles and she said 90% of them were left at the venue. So I figure if I do something edible guests can either eat it at the wedding, or I may do tea or coffee favours for them to take home.
