Wedding dress troubles!! Freaking out!

Elizabeth, on January 23, 2020 at 18:02 Posted in Wedding fashion 0 10
Hi everyone.
So I took my wedding dress in to be altered by this lady and she completely messed it up, and there’s no fixing it. She took in the bust way too much and now it rubs very uncomfortably, I wore it for 30 mins and just wanted to take it off cuz it hurt so badly. I can get it on sill but it is not comfortable at all, My grandmother bought my dress and I would hate to not wear it .. I’m so heart broken. I could. wear if for the ceremony and pictures and then get a different dress for the reception, but that would still be 2-3 hours and idk if I can’t do it I know some women buy 2 dresses 1 for ceremony 1 for reception, but not only can I not afford another dress, I really wanted to wear it the whole day. I know I could get a cheap white dress from anywhere but I really wanted my princess dress. What do I do? What would you do? I’m kinda lucky as I still have 4 months but that’s also not very much time in the wedding world. This is the dress before alterations

I would see if you could put a corset back in instead of the zipper/buttons. Yes, you will lose the buttons, but you can get a nice silk ribbon (can be a way to add colour if you want to) in the corset and it will add inches back to your dress.

I'm so sorry this happened to you. Your seamstress should've left the extra fabric until the fitting and then go from there.

I did talk with her about it and she said there’s nothing she can do. We wouldn’t even be able to take it back out because she cut off the access.

I'm so sorry you're going through this.

Did you talk to the seamstress about how uncomfortable it is? And would you trust her to fix the mistake she made? If you don't trust her I would ask another seamstress if it can be taken back out or if there is a way to make it more comfortable.

Try with a bra honestly sometimes the boning in the bust will fall better over one. I worked at a salon for 5 years. But if it’s HELLA too small that’s just an unfortunate botch. So sorry this happened to you.

    Hi Natasha.
So as of right now I have no bra and I don’t think I could get one in there tbh. It does have a zipper back with beautiful buttons down the back, so a corset is definitely an option but I will have to loose those buttons.
Stretching May work if I steam it a little, didn’t think about thanks.

Try different bra options and shape wear! Might help distribute the pressure better. Try no bra too!

Do you have a zipper you can remove for a corset back? That will give you inches back.
Additional alts might cost more than buying a second dress but if you can’t picture yourself wearing two dresses it might be worth it.
I’d also try, I know this sounds crazy but, stretching the dress out. Depending on the material you might be able to loosen it up. Try hanging it on two hangers instead of one.

My bridesmaids ordered their dresses from jjs house, I was very impressed. But it took a long time to get them.

I amSo sorry about that. I really hope that you didn’t have to pay for those alterations.

You can can find really affordable dresses on jjs house, and they have a big sale going on. I know it’s no consolation, but that way you have something that looks just as nice for the long hours after the ceremony.
