Wedding Dress Shopping in Edmonton

Sheila, on January 28, 2019 at 23:26 Posted in Alberta 0 4

Hey ladies!

Does anyone have a recommendation for a dress store that would be accommodating for a larger group? (5 bridesmaids and 2 moms) I want my whole party to come on at least one shopping trip to make sure everyone is included! I know it may be overwhelming that way, but I think it would be fun too. Any tips?

Thanks!

If you’re looking for a Saturday, it will probably be tough to find. But, a few I went to that would have the space as long as they don’t have a lot of appointments that day would be Bridal Boutique, Bridal House and ABC Bridal (who recently changed their name but can’t remember what it is).
Also, when I found my dress, I wanted to go back to the store to see it and try it on again multiple times (I only went back once to see how it would go with my mom’s veil). Anyway, you could also go back a couple times with your bridesmaids to try it on again. I know bridal boutique and bridal house both said to come back and try it on even once the decision was made.

No worries on the long/ ramble-y reply!! lol

I had wanted my BM's to come as well but with the people limit I opted for not... I am considering having them at my alterations appointment though! At the same time I love the reaction pictures like this which would mean not taking them...

Good idea, I'll just email and call around and see if anywhere is accommodating for bigger groups. I have already gone once with just my mom, but I know some of my party really wants to come at least once. So I feel it's best to have either just my mom come again, or include everyone, I certainly cant pick and choose who gets to come when they all want to. I'm very lucky to have a great group of people around me who would be nothing but supportive. When we sent them pictures from that first trip, it was all positive reactions for everything. Their thoughts on some of the dresses actually helped make my mind more - because I felt differently than some of them and that reinforced it, if that makes sense!

I have a sneaking suspicion I may have already found my dress, but I want to go to one more store at least to see what else is out there. I had a great first experience though and absolutely loved it!

I just realized how long and ramble-y this was...sorry!

I'm not sure what's out there in Alberta - but here in Winnipeg the best I could find was by going through every dang website and seeing if they put it down (the place I ended up going for my wedding dress had a maximum head count of 5 plus the bride) or by calling the store to ask (at which time I could also book an appointment!

Tips on doing this would be to know who's opinion you value the most - yours! I went with a dress that I loved and I know both my Mom and Sister liked a different dress but you can't always look at them for the go-ahead. Especially because you are the one that has to feel like a bride and not just wear a pretty gown. At the same time - if people think it's hideous... well try and move on to a new dress because that may stick in your brain if you go with it causing doubts later on.
