Wedding dress shopping

View quoted message I loved going on my own for most of it as i love my family and friends thoughts but i found i felt pressured to try on things i hated but they loved or i thought on dresses id have HATED to wear because everyone else said it was my dress. The dress i fell in love with i got pictures taken of my favourites and sent them to my friends and family but there wasnt the pressure if they didnt like it. I will bring my mom for trying my dress on for fittings but i picked it because i loved it.

That’s a good point though, about the bad juju Lol I can be superstitious sometimes too

I did mine on separate days because i was on my own for every shop but one. The day i went with friends and family we did shop lunch and other wedding stuff the rest of the day. Make time to eat and breathe! Id do two shops in one day max i got so hot trying on what felt like a million dresses. Id never rent as i want to repurpose my dress for my kids/grandkids. If this wasnt a thought id have rented!

I went to 2 shops. i find a lot of the stores have the same styles and designers. and there is nothing wrong with renting a gown i have a ton of friends who have done that. you dont have to pay for it to get cleaned and have it sit in a box in your house for no reason.

I went to 3 shops (over two days) and I stopped shopping and making appointments when I had a dress in mind that I'd tried on and couldn't stop thinking about it.

For me though, shopping for dresses was overwhelming. I don't think I could've done more than 3 shops.

My family was annoyed just on the 3 shops so I think they would've given up if I hadn't picked my dress at the 3rd store haha.

I wouldn't go to more than 1 store a day but maybe that's just me? I feel like you don't take them seriously because you know you have another one to go to.

I would say that as much as it will be quite the workout/ sweat for you to be going in and out of dresses X3 stores in one day - if your family is as difficult as mine was to get a day that works for everybody then I would say to go for it!

Like the others said - you can always cancel the other 1 or 2 if you find "the one"!

As for renting... I don't like the idea of it - yet I'm over here going to hopefully consign my dress away I don't like having other people's stuff but am more than willing to give mine to charity or sell it. Don't want the bad juju if the dress was worn by somebody who didn't get to walk down the aisle in it or if she did and then the marriage fell apart

I had appointments at three and found my dress at the first place. So I cancelled my other appointments!


I wouldn't let the fact that you have other appointments sway you, try not to get stuck in the "what if there is something better at the next place" mentality if you think you've found the one.

I havent gone shopping yet. I'm not sure I would enjoy going to 3 shops in one day. I think if you aren't finding what you like that you need to keep shopping. If you are doing that much shopping in one day dont forget to feed people. My people anyway must be fed....

I went to 6 bridal shops before I found my dress. It was way out of my budget so I had it made instead. I only went shopping with my mom abd my mother in law.

I never thought about renting my gown.
