Wedding Dress Alterations - Calgary Brides

Courtney, on September 11, 2020 at 16:17 Posted in Wedding fashion 0 3

Hi Ladies,

I am just wondering if anyone has any ball park figures of how much I should be estimating for wedding dress alterations and if there is anyone in Calgary that you would highly recommend?

My dress is long sleeve, sheath silhouette with lace (Allure 2014 - Style 9167) and fits almost perfect, it only needs to be taken in a little in the waist and upper body - the length and everything is great, as I am trying to tone up for the day, the size is a little loose.

I still have a little way to go, but that is one of those budget items that i literally have no clue where to start.

Thanks!!

Courtney

Your seamstress will know more information on how much it will cost. It depends on what needs to get done with your dress.

I'm from Edmonton. For my dress, it has to be taken in on the shoulders a bit, as well as they'll need to take it in on my but area since they're a lot of extra fabric. They're also adding pushup cups for my dress and adding a bustle for my train. When I had picked up my dress last summer she had said anywhere from 400-700 for my alterations.

The information and feedback I have received is minor alterations (hem, bustle, minor tightening) can range between 175-400 for alterations. Major alterations could cost upwards of 6-800. But like amelia mentioned it really depends of the dress material. If there is a lot of beading or delicate lace, it would be more expensive. I’m budgeting for 400 for alterations, and hoping the information I have received from others is accurate. I’m also in a smaller city in BC so obviously it may be different

Most seamstresses won't post prices or quotes online without actually seeing the dress. So much of the work can depend on the kind of fabric and how much "a little" to take in actually is.

I would post on a local bridal facebook group to get an idea of pros in your area and what people spent.
