Wedding dress

Does anyone know if David’s Bridal has a sale end of this year? Also what is everyone spending on their dress and how far in advance did you get it?

Thanks!

Thanks! I actually just purchased the dress yesterday. I tried on the original dress that I loved and then the sales person brought me out one in pure white. It was a major dilemma but I ended up going with pure white. Unfortunately today I had a change of heart and will be going back to the ivory. I hope I don’t regret it when I get it next year. Now I know why people order their dresses in advance. Aiyaya.

With the dress you love, would it need a lot of other items to fit your vision (like statement jewelry, a belt, etc.)? If not, maybe the $2000 price point won't be too much budget-wise as you will not have the expense of the earrings, necklace, etc...

Do you know if the dress you like at David's Bridal is a new collection? When I told the owner of Dreams Bridal the dress I had originally fallen in love with (Designer and style) she called me cause they got one in a few weeks later (sadly, wasn't my size), but may be worth having her keep an eye out as well.

You are def. cutting things close for a dress that needs to be ordered, but you are still under the wire - good luck Smiley smile

    Hello Anne,
I’m not too sure if they have a sale end of year. However, they do have discounted racks. I bought my Vera Wang dress from there (was last one) for less than $300. Her White collection is no longer in store or leaving, but they have some beautiful options on the sale rack. What is your budget for a dress?

Thanks Jenn! I kinda slacked off on getting my dress because of the pandemic and all the uncertainty. From wedding groups it looks like I need to get my wedding dress ordered as soon as possible. I’m getting married end of July 2022. I checked out Dreams Bridal just a week or so ago but unfortunately didn’t find anything that I like. I’ll be going to David Bridal again after work but of course the dress that I love is almost $2000.

    Hey Anne,
Boutiques rarely have amazing deals on dresses you can still custom order, but it does happen on occasion. I bought my dress about 8 months after I got engaged in 2018 (spent about $2000), and due to various setbacks (most recently Covid) we haven't even set our date officially et!!

If you are ok with getting an Off the Rack dress:

    - Kleinfeld's in Toronto is known to have a Boxing day Sale (I got 2 pairs of shoes for $60 when both were over $500 reg. priced)
    - Ave 22 Off The Rack has a great selection
    - Amandalinas has an off the rack section
    - Dreams Bridal is a Clearance boutique at the Tanger Outlets (Cookstown) - they have a great selection and a lot of them are from collections a year or less out (and are all $999 or less) - I will be going in the new year to see if I can find a reception Dress (follow them on Insta to see some of their gowns as they come in)

I know of a few other places if you are interested Smiley smile

    Cheers!

I got my dress from the bridal boutique in Calgary and it was 3000 but if you pay upfront I got 1000 off. My wedding is September 30th 2022 and I ordered my dress on October 1st. She said it will take 6 to 8 months to arrive.

Thanks Kelsey. I have a few dresses in mind and am looking to make the purchase by end of December. My wedding is on July. 30th, 2022. I’ve definitely have been slacking in this department.

I ordered my dress in September and they said it should come in during December, wedding is June. My seamstress/alterations vendor said this is a good timeline because I have 3 included fittings with her, first sometime dec/Jan, 2nd in march/April, and final in late may before the wedding. I'd plan to have your dress at least 5 months before your date. And have as in have in your hands, not just ordering 5 months before the date. However there could be delays etc with the delivery of the dress that your bridal shop should be able to advise you of if it's happening. Just make sure you ask what the delivery timeline looks like when you're at your appointment.

You should follow a bunch of dress shops on social media. That's how my wife found out about her dress sale.

I got my dress from Park and Fifth, an independent boutique. It was $1200 and I ordered in September 2020 and it came in January 2021.

I know David’s Bridal had a Black Friday sale but I believe it ends tonight at midnight. My MOH got her dress on Sunday and I want to say it was 30% off.

I bought my dress from JJ House with duty and taxes I spent $343. It fits like a glove so I don't need any alterations. I do need to get it steamed though. I know David's bridal has sales on discontinued dresses but I'm not sure about any end of year type of thing.

I don't know if they have "sales" per say, but I believe they will have a sample rack that is discounted and sometimes you can get discounts if you talk to them and book a viewing during a bridal show. I know I was just at a show this weekend, booked a viewing and got a code for $50 off a wedding dress.

I'm not too sure if they will have sales or not you could always call them and see. It doesn't hurt to ask!

Everyone has their own idea on how much they feel comfortable spending on their wedding dress. You can find a dress anywhere for $500-$20,000. It's really up to you and your budget.

For myself, I went a year and a half before my original wedding date. I ordered my dress the middle of January 2019 and it arrived at the end of July 2019. I spent $2500 on my dress and it will still need some alterations that will be around $400-$500.
