Wedding Dates

Jane, on July 18, 2021 at 10:38 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 7
Hi there. So we are planning a wedding for next year but torn on choosing a date between Aug or September months. We are worried of the weather in the Rockies. We wanted to capture the mountains as are background for the ceremony but we don’t want it to be super warm or chilly.

Any suggestions in the month? Or any of you have actual weddings in those months?
Thanks.

My fiance and I go every summer out to the mountains, whether it's Jasper, Banff, Canmore or Kananaskis. I think if you decide on either month, you'll have a magical day no matter what! You take the risk of rain, hot weather or even smoke filled skys like we are right now when you have an outdoor wedding

Based on my experience in the Rockies, the further you are from mid-July, the higher the chance for rain. So August would be a safer bet than September.

But I haven't been since the surge of forest fires that have been spreading in the area for the past two years so not sure how that affects the climate there in either months.

Hi Vinod. I think that would be the best way to go. I heard some couples have indoor ceremony back up just in case the weather did not turn out warm outside. Or have an umbrella ready just in case. Thanks for the reply 😉

Both months get a bit chilly and bit warm at times. The times can vary depending on the day too. Bundling up is the best suggestion once you get the pictures done and over.

Thanks a bunch Michaela for this tip. Appreciate it. We know Alberta weather can be unpredictable, but hearing from someone who had experience on it really helps. ☺️

Either months would be beautiful! If it’s chilly you can always bundle up but for photos quickly take the pics- I’ve seen beautiful wedding photos at minus 40! Keep in mind for the passed few years with all the forest fires in BC Alberta and the mountains can get quite Smokey if the wind catches a certain direction. Might be better in September when the fires are (hopefully) more under control?
