Wedding date

Corabelle, on July 2, 2019 at 15:03 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 13
We have to change the date again due to one of my cousins getting married on that exact date we want, but I guess we still have a year. But I'm ready to scream if it has to be changed again

Oh man, I'd be hopping mad too. How hard is it to just check in with the families?? My sister's BF's brother booked his wedding for the day before ours - in England. So of course, my sister - who's my co-MOH - can't go to his and he won't be able to come to ours. They've been together long enough that I can't believe said brother didn't check before they set their date..

My FH and I decided on our date shortly after we got engaged last year. Since then, 3 other people have told us that is their wedding day as well. I have already put down deposits and everything so I'm not changing it. My aunt and uncle and their kids won't be coming because she's a bridesmaid in one of the other weddings.
I feel for you and I think it was NOT okay for your cousin to steal your date.

Really horrible to hear you have to reroute your wedding date just because of your cousin. Seems there is no remorse to see that you have the first choice to celebrate and take it away from you.

At the same time, you get the advantage now to celebrate 2 events on 1 day which helps. Also to have you save more for another year in advance.

Anyone else wants to get married the same date as your new date, I would give them piece of mind nicely to let them know what happened and they are doing the same and to reconsider their date.

That is kind of inconsiderate of her to make you have to change your date. It should be first come first serve. I get the frustration of changing dates. For us we just didnt have the money and some medical issues. I wanted 8/8/18 because I love the number 8 and it was easy to remember. When that didnt happen I was so sad so I had to find another pattern date. I decided on 10/10/2020 which turned out perfect because his birthday is oct 1 and mine is oct 20 so its right between our birthdays. Its hard to plan things when you can never have a date you know will stick.

I would be FURIOUS. how many times have you changed it? I set my date 2 years in advance, posted then about it on FB and sent out save the dates 13 months before the wedding!

We do have a Facebook group specifically for our wedding. We have no addresses or even emails. Well I have one but that's about it

Even a Facebook post would suffice IMO - that or evites that are free Smiley smile Plus if you do evites you can get addresses that way? Of course if you are like me you don't have email addresses OR physical ones...

My lord - I completely get where you're coming from! My FH's cousin got engaged after we already had booked our venue (we booked it in Feb. 2018 and they got engaged in Summer 2018) and just from that we had to make sure our wedding socials and whatnot are not going to be on the same day as well as to make sure we don't get dresses that look the same!

Plus - they are getting married this month and we aren't getting married until October 5th so that's a bit of a bummer that they kind of stole the attention... then again they have been together for like 10 years and me and my FH will have been together for 2 years and 7 months at the time of the wedding...

Maybe just make sure to get those Save The Dates out so people who will be attending both will have ample notice of how close together they might be!
