Wedding Colours

Carlie, on April 1, 2018 at 22:59 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 19
Hi Everyone. I’m trying to choose my wedding colours. Now I’ve already chosen my dress which is a baby blue underlay covered in lace and my bridesmaids dress are going to be navy. My fiancé is going to wear a grey suit as well as the groomsmen with navy ties, and white shirts. So so far I have Navy, Light Grey, and Baby Blue. I just want a bright accent colour for the flowers and for an accent in my fiancé’s tie and the decor. I was thinking red, but I’m not sure if it will match. Then I was thinking I could do red rose bouquets and boutinears. Any feedback would be lovely. Thankyou

Now thinking of just doing royal blue with the navy and light blue. Thoughts?

Me too! I was briefly considering having a deep blue as one of our colours, and you can be sure there would have been peach/coral involved!

Coral will look great. You can also try peach if you want a softer look and in between of coral and yellow.

I think the other girls are right, a more soft, maybe even pastel colour, of yellow, pink or blush, would really compliment blues/greys. Honestly, I think red isn't a really "bright" colour in the way you want it, it's just bold, and may come off dark for a summer wedding. Something truly "brighter" (lighter) would be a great way to balance any darker colours.

But, if you were drawn to red due to it's boldness, maybe some more tropical colours for a July wedding? I had a cousin who used teal, orange and fuschia, and it looked beautiful. Incorporating orange and/or teal would definitely be a unique, bold look with navy. And very summer-y.

I think yellow or pink flowers would look great with your blues and grays! You could still use a lot of white flowers and greenery and just add few colorful touches!

Pinterest is great for searching wedding color palettes, here's an example centerpiece I found that would look awesome with blues and grays:

A nice bright pink or a yellow would look fantastic! And you could even add some silver accents into the mix

My first thought was a blush/pink.. but yellow would be nice too!

You also don't need to do a pop of colour, I'm not really. For example:

My dress is ivory, brides maid dresses are a silvery-grey, groomsmen are in a dark grey and my groom is in a light grey suit.

The guys will wear pale yellow ties and pocket squares and the bridesmaids will have white/pale yellow bouquets.

I'm super pumped for the soft and muted pallet.

I think blush would look really nice. If you want bright though red will do that or a bright pink/purple.

I think a bright yellow would look nice! Navy and sunflowers are the common theme this year. 😊

Red will look great, if you’re worried about being too stark you could always go with a blush pink, coral or silver/gold. Blush is very popular this year!

Thank you. I’m not sure about the gold, I’m more of a silver person, that’s why I chose the grey, but it is a summer wedding and I don’t want everything to look so dark. So I’m worried the blues and greys will darken everything i do don’t put a bright accent somewhere

Gold would look marvellous with these colours!!! And adding greenery. I'm not sure about the red, although it is an accent colour, it may end up looking fabulous.
