Wedding colour crazy

Kirsten, on May 17, 2019 at 12:50 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 7

Ok, ladies, I have been engaged since Feb 2018 and the wedding isn't till Oct 2021. I have a lot of time to figure it out but I cannot settle on a wedding colour or even a theme. Nothing feels right. My original idea of a gothic romance was shut down so hard by the people around us I cannot bring myself to do it. I have switched my colours a few times and I am not sure what is good for a fall wedding and right to best represent me and my FH.

It is really a great time of year. I think I may have found it, after a few colour changes. Thank you so much!

I'm also getting married in October! Best time of the year if you ask me Smiley winking If I've learned anything about the wedding planning process so far is that theme/colours can be really fluid and change often! Be open minded but once you've found a main colour (say like your bridesmaids dresses) try and work around that scheme. Good luck with your planning!

Colour schemes are really hard to decide on! I know before getting engaged I had 3 different ones on my pinterest board.

You could always add mint in for a litter accent, or even some gold/ copper to pull in the fall theme.

I actually kind of like the idea like it might give a balance between the light and dark

Hmmm, well for me and my Fiancé we chose our favourite colours and then when we saw that it looked too much like a peacock and not enough like a fall wedding (our colours are plum and teal) - we added an accent colour!

We (I) kept changing the accent colour though, I think I had it at red, then orange, then yellow and orange, all three, and finally settled on copper!

Would you think that would work for your mint and red wedding? Just add orange or copper or something to bring in the fall aspect?

Our favorite colours are mint and red. I felt like they didn't fit with fall, like they were too bright. I love the red and black idea but I felt it was too dark and that's what people pointed out with the gothic romance idea.

Themes and colours can definitely be hard to commit too, especially if the one you had sights on was rejected.

What are your and your FH's favourite colours? Is there a way you could possibly incorporate those?

I found I didn't like any of the more "conventional" wedding themes: rustic, garden, glam, etc. The closest I really identified with was beach, even though we're getting married in the fall, indoors but our venue has tropical plants we can take pictures with! Our colours are teal and purple and are overall theme is peacock: since we're using them a lot in our decor.

I've seen some nice red/black weddings which sounds like could match your gothic romance a bit, both my cousin and an acquaintance of mine used those colours. it still felt like a wedding too!
