Wedding cakes vs. wedding cupcakes

I agree. It's like everyone I see wedding cake pictures or desserts I want have some, since the first tasting. Lol

We got a small 6" cutting cake to stick with tradition and do our cutting of the cake.. and then we have cup cakes with various flavours and fillings mmmm I loved my tasting and picking flavours !

That is so nice Terry. The cupcakes are a great options as you can have different flavours and flexiable with having cake as well!

I got a small 10" cake for the top and then cupcakes. First it is way cheaper and I like the look of a cupcake tower. It's easier for the guests and I chose 7 flavours so something for everyone liking

I agree with Melissa on asking about the cake cutting fee. You don't want any surprises when it comes to booking a venue.

I ran into several venues that charge the "cake cutting" for cupcakes too! The reasoning being extra dishes and staff to distribute...so do be careful to ask! that is just one of those fees that really grates me!

Thanks Emilie, we will be having New York Style Cheesecake for dessert and the best part is that the guest get to choose what flavour of Saudi they want, chocolate, turtle chocolate, caramel, etc.

I do like the idea of possible black ribbons with gold flowers and icing being white that the vendor mentioned. . I am very happy to be part of the discussions as it is insightful and a fun way to plan a wedding; not be stressed.

Thank you Emilie. The good news is that there is no cutting fee charge at the venue I chose. After speaking with my fiancé, we have decided to go with cake. I hope I can get a picture of the design to show you. I found out it is better to buy a cake that would feed at least 70% of guest, which can save on cost.

We have decided to have a small cake that will be just for the two of us (an 8" round cake) so that we can still do the ceremonial cutting of the cake, and then we are having a variety of full sized and mini cupcakes for our guests. This is not only saving us money (enough cupcakes to feed all of our guests will cost us much less than having a cake that is large enough to feed everyone) but time as well (don't have to worry about who is cutting cake for everyone). Having cupcakes also allows us to have a variety of different flavors, so guests can just browse and choose whichever one(s) they want! We ordered the cake and cupcakes from the same vendor so they will all be decorated in a style that compliments the wedding cake that is for us.

We're steering clear of cake because our venue has a cake cutting charge. So cupcakes or something will be easier and help our budget out lol

Thank you for your response. I will be having my wedding reception in a banquet room at a hotel. I do like the idea of having both cupcakes and wedding cake combination, as I will have to find out from the vendors in Manitoba if they can complete this request.
