Wedding Cake For Evening Reception?

Adam, on July 10, 2018 at 22:03 Posted in Wedding reception 0 6

Has anyone had, having or thought about having cakes for the evening reception? I was looking through an old school friends wedding photos and she had giant cupcakes and had her caterers cut them up for her evening guests, I really like this idea! What do you think??? I have a giant cupcake cooking in the oven at the moment, going to have a go at decorating and see how it looks as if I go for this I think I'd just make them myself .

I think a large cupcake would be super cute! Or a large cupcake and then a bunch of smaller cupcakes for the guests! Giving out little cupcakes is a lot easier and faster at the wedding!

Are you thinking of just having cupcakes at the reception? I have heard of dessert receptions instead of a full dinner. If that’s the route you’re going, I would suggest a variety of desserts and letting your guests know on the invitation that it is a dessert reception.

I have a picture of what alternative we served besides a cake. Assorted pastries of different flavours and colours.

Our hall provides dessert (platters of Italian pastries). we are going to get some normal size or mini cupcakes to have with our late night snack. in case people want something sweet.
the only thing I would watch with doing a giant cupcake or cake. is that hall probably charges a cutting per person fee.

Wedding cake isn't for every couple now adays. Its all changing to what you two prefer to have as your choice and budget wise.

I have heard of many doing cupcakes or mini cakes form to let guests serve themselves.

Another option is getting the top tier to the cupcake stand and ordering a slab enough for the sweet table and pre cut into slices.

I’m thinking of going with normal cupcake because it will save time having someone cut them up. Also depending on your venue you may not be able to make them yourself as they may have rules that it has to be made in a commercial kitchen. My venue has said for health safety reasons it has to be made in a commercial kitchen.
