How much time in advance should you pick someone to make your cake? We are thinking of doing cupcakes for the guests and a small cake for use to cut and enjoy. I know what I want but haven’t really started to look for anyone because my 31 yr old daughter said she’d take care of it. I haven’t brought it up again. Thinking I might this weekend or next weekend. What are you doing? And did you start looking into cakes a year ahead or less? Share your thoughts on this please.

Our friend is doing our wedding cake and she said that she will need our final decision by around the 3 month mark (ours is a very simple design) if we wanted something fancier than she said she would like about 4 months notice.

Oh my gosh we have almost the same idea! Our cupcake stand is wood though but we want cupcakes and a white one tier cake like in your picture haha
This is a picture of our stand I purchased it on Facebook from another bride.

So five more this ahead of time. See my daughter is supposed to take care of the cake but she hasn’t mentioned it yet. So I was getting nervous leaving in someone else’s hands lol but I guess I’ll give it sometime.

I'm getting married super off season (Jan 19, 2019)... so I probably will send out e-mails for quotes/pricing in August... and ask the baker I want to go with when they require a deposit... We are just doing a mini cake (2 tiers, one for saving, one for cutting) and mini cupcakes.

Our wedding is in October. I'm meeting with cake baker this weekend to discuss want we want. Our plan is a small 8"cake for us to cut and eat as a couple. Cupcakes for guests

We had a friend who also did our cupcakes and cake. We spoke with her about 8 months ahead as well to confirm she could do them and discuss the price. Depending on where you live, I would suggest you look between 6 to 9 months before.

I have a friend who has her own little side business of making desserts. I asked her to do it for me she said yes. Our cake is nothing too big it is just an 8” just for us to cut. Because of where our venue is our guests are getting dessert with their food. So all I’m paying for is the cake. We are getting married July 2019

We paid a deposit to our baker about 8 months before our wedding, we probably could have waited until 6 months before but I don’t like chancing things I’m more of an eager beaver lol.
