Wedding Cake & Cupcakes

Sarah, on October 24, 2017 at 17:47 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 13

Hello,

we are starting to look into wedding cakes and were wondering if you share your wedding cake with guests or is that why people usually also have cupcakes or a dessert.

Help!

We did a small 3 tier cake with pasteies too which was served with dessert to all the guests. Perfect amount too. Not everyone will have cake.

We haven't decided yet - just was looking for ideas - our wedding is over a year away so cake is far from a priority atm lol

We served cupcakes for the guests and then we had a small cake for us to "smash". We had the cupcakes layered like a large cake with the small cake at the top with the bride and groom figures on the top. It worked perfectly. We used Happy Wife Happy Life Entertainment for our wedding DJ and they played some fun music while we cut our cake. Was overall a great decision to get the cupcakes for the guests.

I feel like if you have a large cake, then it would be cut and shared with your guests. If you want to do something like cupcakes, then you could always have just a tiny cake to cut for photos! We're just doing a little cake, and then donuts!

Usually the wedding cake is cut and given to the guests after dinner. Cupcakes have also been used instead of cutting a cake.

Usually if you have a bigger cake that is what is used for dessert and it is given to everyone. If you want to have both than go for it!

Our dinner came with a dessert course so we got a small one layer cake to have for the cutting. It was open for consumption to everyone, but no one went near it!

Some do a two tier cake with the top tier for the cake cutting and saving. The second tier is then sliced and passed out to guests.

Our dinner came with dessert... we had a small cutting cake for ourselves and cupcakes. we went home with soooo many cupcakes. IF you are having dessert AND cake/cupcakes don't get enough cupcakes for each person. I was handing them out and dropping them off after the wedding. I have tried to freeze a bunch as well.

I'm using the whole cake cause I'm going a non traditional. We're still doing the cake cutting but we got 3 flavors of cake for that reason. Why spend money on cake and cupcakes.

Normally if you just have one layer of cake(just to do traditional cutting) and the rest cupcakes guests should be able to use common sense to know cupcakes at for them and layer of cake is for head table Smiley smile
