Wedding bands for low profile engagement rings

Abbey, on January 30, 2019 at 14:43 Posted in Wedding fashion 0 9

Hi everyone. We are going wedding band shopping this coming weekend, and im wondering your thoughts/opinions on low profile engagement ring with straight wedding band, leaving a gap.. My engagement ring is a family ring.. a yellow gold band with a saphire center stone and diamond halo. Princess diana style, low profile. Im thinking i want a straight band so i can wear it on my own, I wouldnt wear a curved band on its own. Thoughts on the gap? Those of you with low profile rings, does/did the gap bother you?

Thank you! I did end up getting a normal straight band - the gap doesn’t bother me like I thought it might. Love my band. Yellow gold + diamond.

I also like having the option to only wear my wedding band for times when my e-ring would get in the way, like yoga classes. I don't personally mind the look of a gap at all. As long as it is comfortable and won't pinch you I think it would be fine. Maybe you could wear some other ring with your e-ring around the house for a weekend to see if it is uncomfortable or if the look of the gap bothers you, to help you decide.

Another option if it is in your budget is to get two simple matching bands, one with a curve and one straight.

    That's a beautiful ring btw!

The ring you choose can slide under the stone if thin and solid, then that gap is not an issue.

If you get a solid ring having a gap, it will be fine and will look good with your engagement ring.

I see what you mean... I have a heart shape diamond so my wedding band will be curved to it - but I also plan on wearing them together all the time. I guess at the end of the day it comes down to what you would feel right wearing.

Perhaps try going to a jewellery store and try on a couple options. I'm sure the gap wouldn't be a big deal though as most people don't grab your hand and inspect that it has two rings to begin with let alone whether there is a gap or not.
