Wedding 2.0?

EbonyAriana, on July 3, 2020 at 12:18 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 6

Originally my fiance and I were supposed to be married at a golf course and we absolutely love the venue however we don't love their tight time restriction they have right now. As of now they are holding weddings in only 4 hour intervals so we would be having the venue from 4-8pm and have to ave it cleaned up shortly after. To me , this seems to be far too short and it isn't what I think of when I think of my wedding,

In it's place we were thinking of doing a backyard wedding or renting out our local community center and just doing a DIY wedding. It's a bit short notice, trust me I know. But, I think if we want to be able to have more time with our family and friends it's what we may have to do. ( Either this or postpone but we don't favour postponement at this time)

Any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated at this time as we are starting from scratch minus the dress.

We have our flowers , decor and all the small things we would just need catering and chair / table rental , linens ect.

I wouldn't be surprised to hear the venue restricting many things to happen at this time as the situation isn't getting better for some cities, especially major ones. They want to protect themselves as well as you and your loved ones. Postponing would be an option to take than risking anything at this point.

I hope your venue gave you a refund. I get why they're doing it for the sake of covid but if they're not allowing people to drink, they should not be charging you for the bar.

    Good luck with your search.

Thank you for all the suggestions We are going to take a look at a local community hall that has all that stuff its much less experience and we would have to just get a caterer ( along with the decor we already have)

They said its because when people start drinking they won't be socially distant. Which really sucks Wr aren't saving any money having the shorter hours it's the same price as they charge per person
We are going to check out a local community hall that does rentals and see their pricing

For backyard I would recommend focusing on basics: shelter lighting bathrooms. Do you have a spot where there are bathrooms or do you need to rent something? If it rains do you have tents or indoor space? If you need lights or music is there power to tap into or do you need a generator?

I would also say don't sweat the small stuff. When you think of everything that has changed this year then small details not going the way we hoped isn't so bad.

I really want to know what their reasoning for this is. Is this for both the ceremony and reception or is it just the ceremony? Are they charging you a full rate while kicking you out at the four hour mark? Does your venue allow you to book two back to back four hour slots?

How big is your party? Is it small enough that you can fit into a restaurant and just buy the place out for the night?
