I heard that cutting them and putting them in water and theeeeeeeen putting them in the refrigerator the night before is a good way to keep them looking fresh for the day. As well the stem should be good enough to keep them in your hair but if you are planning on cutting the stems off then I would suggest a little DIY and sew them to the bobby pins to make sure they don't fall out
