We did everything we could to save our wedding

Kasandra, on September 30, 2020 at 22:21 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 12
We were supposed to get married on October 10th. Our area is changing to a red zone tonight. No weddings are allowed indoors or outdoors. We got a call from our venue yesterday saying they had to cancel. We planned a whole new wedding in 24 hours in a different region with 10 days to go only to find out tonight that the new measures are even more strict than originally planned. We could be fined if we travel to a different region to get married. Our officiant does not want to take that risk and I understand. I'm at a loss. We're moving 4000km away next spring so we won't have time to plan a wedding until 2022. Anyone else feel completely hopeless?

Oh Kasandra, I am so sorry, were you able to get married or did you have to postpone? Were your vendors reasonable?

Its terrible to hear the venue cancelled on you though they had to be on the safe side too. Its difficult to work around the time frame of finding another venue though you did make it work. You will have a celebration knowing your guests will be present in a year or two for a vow renewal or anniversary. Keeping positive and patience is something we have to look forward than things not going our way.

You're right. Thank you for reaching out. I can't imagine what all those brides who are having to postpone their wedding for the second time must be feeling.

I'm feeling a little better today and hopefully things change and we're able to get married on the date we had planned! They change every day so it's really hard to say. We really wanted a small wedding so all we care about is just getting married. Smiley smile We talked about a possible small ceremony in December if things improve.

Thanks Jess! I think I just needed to vent and I feel better today. Things are changing every day so right now neither the venue or the officiant know if we are allowed to get married. I guess there's still a small possibility it might happen.

I really hope you're able to have your wedding! Hopefully a miracle happens on 10.10.2020 and we all have the best day ever. Smiley smile

I'm so sorry to hear you're going through this. Do whatever makes you happy. If you can have a small ceremony and you want to be married now then go for it! If you want to hold off until you can have the whole big day then wait until you are ready and able. It's frustrating and unpredictable, but ultimately it is still your day so do what makes you both happiest.

During the early days when all the 2020 spring and summer brides were going through what you are now a lot of people pushed their dates to fall 2020 or to 2021 and it may not be enough. 2022 sounds forever away but it likely has a better chance of you having a more traditional wedding vs those of us having micro weddings or continuing to push our dates again and again.

I am so sorry to hear this and know what a hard time this is. I am supposed to be getting married the same day and our numbers here in Ontario are climbing and I’m worried about the same thing happening.

You will get through this. It just really is a crappy situation that you can’t even have your ceremony and my heart is going out to you. Hopefully things will lift and maybe you can have a small ceremony in a few months and then plan something bigger in 2022 when you have more time?

Nope Smiley sad we would have been happy to just have a ceremony with just two witnesses but even that isn't possible.

Thank you for your kind words. We unforunately can't have any ceremony... Small or big. We only had 8 guests originally so we thought we'd be okay. I feel for those who had big weddings and had to make it smaller. I also feel for all to Quebec couples who have had to cancel their weddings that were scheduled in October. What a time...

I am sorry. Honestly this pandemic has been fierce and unpredictable. I think you should have a small ceremony and get married and plan the reception when things settle. Who knows what tomorrow will look like with Covid. I would start your life then layer on it when it’s safe. I know how stressful this is and I’m so sorry ☹️
