We arent writing our own but we did look online and look up different templates of each section in a ceremony and picked out the ones we felt were a reflection of us/our relationship. The idea of writing my own seems stressful; I would have a hard time putting into words how I feel and I would be worried one of us would end up writing something way more meaningful than the other and making the other person feel bad. My fiance was relieved when I said I didnt want to write my own because he felt the same way.

We are having a friend speak about us and then doing very short vows. We keep writing down little phrases in a book we have then go back and look them to see what we want to keep and use. Helpful to write your partner a love letter ahead of time. Then you can use some of the inspiration for your vows. Give him the love letter the night before your wedding to show him some special love.

We're getting married in the Catholic Church and they don't allow you to write your own vows - kind of disappointing because I've always envisioned writing my own.

If it were me, I'd want to write my own but I know my FH is very happy he does not have to write his own vows. LOL

We are writing our own vows and it can be really difficult especially if writing isn’t something that comes naturally. There’s this vows book from the knot it’s like 15 $ ; it’s been super helpful and they have wonderful tips

It will be more traditional I'm sure. I'm not much of a public speaker nor is the FH so just repeating what our officiant says will be more up our alley

We did traditional. Nothing written since my husband is always not well spoken in front of public. I on the other hand, am and would have that route if chosen.

We're writing our own vows. Mine are sappy, but I'm a huge sap Smiley shame . I don't have inside jokes in my vows, but I have incorporated a Friends reference and a Frozen reference because I'm a nerd.

We're writing our own. I've kept mine pretty light, not too much cheese, but with an inside joke thrown in that not other people will get, but I know I'll get a chuckle out of FH for it.

We do have a few between me and FH I never thought to even use any of them and one of them is really only one word but we both laugh every time

Do you have any inside jokes? I wouldn't worry too much about trying to make others laugh - try and focus on just your FW/FH laugh or just feel free to let it all out and gush!

Me and my DH just wanted a short simple ceremony so we chose to skip vows all together! Had we wrote our vows then I'm sure we would have stuck with more of the traditional "love you since blah blah blah, the little things you do like blah blah blah" but then put in the funny part with "I promise to love you even though you blah blah blah"
