Videography, worth it?

Eunice, on September 8, 2019 at 12:37 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 11
Just wondering how many of you opt out for videography? My fiancé and I are thinking of not doing it to cut some expense.

For those who did it? Is it worth it?

Thanks!

We purchased it. i dont think i will regret buying it as the day goes by so fast and i wont be able to see everything going on. i want to sit back and watch the day and see all the stuff i missed. if you dont care for a professional video guy hire a student off kijiji or someone just getting into the field that way it will be cheaper

We didn't have one and I'm sort of regretting it. I'm relying on videos from friends and family for those moments and it's a little difficult.

I was not planning on doing it originally, however, due to space limitations, we have to have a private ceremony and now we are having it filmed.

My videographer is from Creative Nest in Kingston and her prices are VERY reasonable. If you DO want videography but don't want it to cost an arm and a leg, definitely check out her packages.

We opted out based on cost alone. FH is also not really big into pictures, so I think a video would have been too much!
It is a good thing to have, but if it isn’t in your budget you can get guests to video stuff and put it all together.
We are having an unplugged ceremony, but I am thinking of asking some people to make sure our dances are videoed

I'm doing it - but just for the ceremony. I want the moment we say "I do" to be captured on tape Smiley smile If it's about the money for you I would say to try haggling with the videographers. Worst they can say is no, right?

First try seeing prices at wedding shows though - they usually have discounts there. If it's still too high then I say wait until closer to your wedding and see if they are willing to come down as it turns into a "well it's either I pay you x amount or you don't have a wedding to video tape this weekend at all and you get $0".

We opted out. I felt it was too expensive to justify. We are going to ask our guests to record videos of our dance so we have it.

Awwe! Sorry to hear that you guys didn’t get what you expected. I find that you’re not certain of how the videos will turn out as opposed to pictures. I would love to watch us both walk down the aisle as husband and wife, see speeches from loved ones and our first dance but I’m scared that it wouldn’t turn out good. I mean I’ve seen lots of videos that are great but the cost of those are a fortune. Thank you for your insight though!

That is the exact argument my parents keep making. Cell phones are amazing quality these days, so I've conceded that if I'm not going to frame it, I don't need professional photography or videography for it!

That’s a good point and my fiancé said that photos should be enough too. I was just thinking of maybe we can videotape the first dance or the highlights of the wedding. At the same time though, we live in an era where everyone can just record a video with phones.

We did opt to videography as it it our memories to look over the years remembering the moment we become a couple and yes it wasn't worth the cost with this father and son editing. The videographer himself wasn't worth having there and the result of the video because of the inconsisty of music volume being high and low at times taking away from the wedding ceremony itself of the Officiant speaking, vows said and the background music paid for by the DJ.

We aren't doing videography either. That was a difficult decision to make me for me because I love wedding videos so much! But, we've realized, the memories and photos will be enough to bring us back to the magic of the day. It's a nice to have for sure, it just didn't make the cut for us.
